Does everyone who runs an old shed use Mannol oil? We have five sheds in my family and we have been using this stuff for years with no issues.

Always used it in my cars for years, mainly as LL04 spec for the BMW's, but as Dexos 2 spec, for the current Vauxhall also.

Their ATF is very good value too, against other JWS 3309 & 3324 alternatives

Thanks for the info, I've just googled how to check each of these components for wear, so I'll check over the weekend for anything obvious.

The last time I did drop links was on an old 306 (failed on MOT and I didn't want to pay the garage at the time being a poor student) the nuts did not want to come off so I ended up angle grinding them off! Fun times
We've got a mile of unmade forestry road to navigate every trip before we reach tarmac so we go through a couple of drop links every year on all of our cars. I gave up trying to unbolt them years ago, little battery angle grinder every time. I reckon I can do a drop link on any of our cars in less than ten minutes.

Never heard a bad word said about Mannol, I use it and a lot of people that I know do too.

I’ve also been using Mannol for years now with no complaints. They often crop up with cheapest product I’d trust.

Here's z funny tail. When I bought my car the battery died. Replaced, the same thing happened. It was a cheap brand. The battery had failed never knew that could happen, rac came out.

Anyway excuse to post shed, done nearly 2k miles in it. Besides few niggles, part of shed life. Only problem is it has a habit of going fast already got 3 points.

Things to sort out, tracking wheel balance at higher speeds. Speakers broken but just using my phone ATM.

Back rear window needs a new motor

TTid? I ran one of these for a couple of years, quite like it - you may already know that the alternators are quite weak on these, sometimes comes back as a bad battery.

Pretty good solid cars, sold mine due to the fact it was a saloon - kind of became impractical for my uses in the end - only issue I had was a steering joint that went bad (very vague/wobbly steer ahead) had to get a refurbished unit as parts supply becoming an issue.

Recently checked its MOT history (because I am sad like that), looks to of had a few issues with front and rear subframe corrosion recently, mine was a 2011 car so seems quite surprising!

I run a Vectra C now (shared platform to the 9-3) and I do get that same feeling driving this now, with what I did with my 9-3...albeit it isnt as fast biggrin

Hope it runs ok for you, the design is timeless I think.

Thanks for that. I bought some at £40 some weeks back but this is an even better deal. Bagged some for servicing family fleet next year. 3 cars, all take 5w30. Any drips at the bottom get drained into a small bottle for the bicycles.

A friend had a huge oak tree cut down a few weeks ago.

Managed to squeeze a few logs into the jazz. Driving home was a tad sketchy, but made it back. Tad low on the rear though.

While we are talking about oil, my wife works in a company that makes oil, I’d strongly advise not using [edited for naming and shaming- oil that is not east and has the same second half as subway] oil.
She is currently trying to get budget to destroy an engine to prove how bad it really is. They apparently say they meet the various criteria for specifications, but don’t even come close.

She hasn’t told me off for using any other budget oils though, so assume any others are fine biggrin
I know the one you mean. Smith and Allan are all good I assume though? Used them for years now.

I hope so, I just bought some synthetic gear oil from Smith and Allan.
Made use of the Ebay Mannol offer too, 4x5l tubs of 5w30 Longlife for just over £54.

I got some of their fully synthetic gear oil and engine oil. Changed the gearbox oil on the 208 finding out it was half a litre low. 3 days later it got written off on a roundabout! Been replaced the other day with a 2007 grande Punto. Always loved the fire engine.
