Firstly, if anyone else has a spare Paddock Club pass for Monaco, I’m in. I’m still in awe of M1K3’s generosity- amazing and a reminder that we’re all F1 fans here.

What to say after Imola? McLaren must have a great chance as the RB20 is looking tricky to set up and manage its tyres. Should be a great qualifying.

Alonso will be looking for a better race after 2 duffers, and Piastri is due some luck. Poll is for the win.

Date(s): Friday 24 to Sunday 26 May 2024.

UK Broadcast Timings (and track time)

All sessions are live on Sky F1. Channel 4 is showing highlights of Qualifying and the Race.

In car shots from both RBRs look awful. They may sort it out for FP3 and Qualifying, but they are making a habit of getting the initial setup badly wrong at the moment.
It’s more I think the RB20 hates being raised up for street circuits - same issue as Singapore

The RedBull was pretty marginal last year at Monaco until a banzai last lap IIRC?
The RB19 was slow to warn up its front tyres last year, but kind to them in the races. Monaco was always going to be tricky

Blimey, Hadjar nearly had a huge crash into a slower car in F2. How he reacted that quick is astonishing.
Brown trousers in the tunnel for sure.
I was amazed he managed to miss both the car AND the barriers! If he'd collected the back of the car it might have finally proven whether a car can drive upside down on the top of the tunnel!
Here it is: https://x.com/ahmed_baokbah/status/179399756976660...

It's like something from the matrix.
Agree, incredible

Why's that?
I suppose any race that is not the same winner is a novelty these last two years. It will almost certainly be very boring tomorrow though.
Hardly any difference here though. A red car instead of a blue one up the front. It'll still be a dreary procession with Croft screaming trying to make it sound exciting. Which it won't be.
Cheer up you lot, 2 potential new winners on the front row and the dominant car on the 3rd row.

Charles Leclerc with his 24th pole position.

But he only has 5 wins!

Super talented and rapidly fast but must be the unluckiest driver in F1.
Or it's simply that similar to trulli, he's pretty handy in qualifying but far too flaky in races.......
Most of that is due to Mercedes and then Red Bull domination. Put him in a leading car where he's not having take so many risks and he'll be just fine

Apologies if already discussed earlier, I haven’t read the full thread - what, if anything, should we read into Max’s comments over the radio about knowing where he could find time on the lap… but can’t?

I wondered if they perhaps are no longer able to use something that had been on their car previously?
They've removed the Newey.
He’s apparently now only involved in the strategy meetings, having been relieved of anything technical for understandable reasons.

I agree with those suggesting the issue is something to do with ride height, the RB is much happier on smooth racetracks than bumpy street circuits, but they’ve also been so far ahead that their poor performances were less noticable than now, with the rest of the field catching up.
You can't have a car that's perfect everywhere- RBR has developed the cars to be good on faster circuits and I guess it's happy to take the hit at Monaco, Singapore, Miami.

It's still the best car and team but it's great to see others catching up.

Wasn't he sitting with the pit wall crew yesterday?

Maybe, that's why they're struggling. hehe

Thought you said it was going to be interesting because we were going to get a different winner hehe
A fair point. If there was the usual pitstops, it could’ve been more interesting.
