So the Channel 4 viewing of the Italian Grand Prix is reduced to a one hour slot to condense the chit chat, the race highlights and then the summary. This is so that the Paralympics can be viewed by motor racing fans. I’m not watching the Paralympic Games and I didn’t watch the Olympics either. I’m not interested in sports where the governing bodies allow people to cheat by claiming to be women when they’re clearly men.
So motor sports fans suffer.

Maybe Paralympics fans won't watch a sport which bans someone for life for race fixing cheating and then allows him back a few years later? Or one which bangs on about equalities while holding races in tyrannical Gulf hell holes ?

So no watching F1 then.

As far as i could tell watching the C4 coverage earlier, what they did today was pretty much the same as how they always manage / package up the highlights for the fly away races in the US, Canada, Brazil, Mexico, etc. In those cases the time difference to the live race broadcast and delay in being allowed to show highlights leaves the show compacted down to 1 hour usually starting at midnight or 1am overnight and then repeated again on Monday at 8am in place of re-runs of Everybody Loves Raymond.

Only difference with the Italian GP was that Steve / David were there hosting and it was repeated again at 11.30pm - normally on the fly away races it's hosted by a selection of Lee / Billy / Arianna / Alice inside one of the F1 teams bases although they also used a F1 gaming arcade in London once. Obviously Lee / Billy are part of the Paralympic coverage and Alice was working for 5Live this weekend.

Not really sure what C4 are meant to have done wrong tbh - it's not a new thing with their proper blanket coverage of the Paralympics.

Just seems like an excuse for OP to go on another one of his rants about C4, coverage, Steve Jones, etc, based on post history getmecoat

But Nico Rosberg retired from F1 years ago.

When using the Channel 4 TV streaming app, is anyone else getting a continuously spinning green wheel of death when trying to watch F1?
(All other Ch4 content streams OK, only have problem with F1.)

Maybe it is to prevent Coultard continiously singing the praises of RB!!!

Is it too much to hope that C4 have binned Alice Powell?

She's fine as a pundit, but I really hope she's not doing commentary at Goodwood again next week. She was pretty poor last time, and clearly knew fk all about any of the cars she was supposed to be talking about.

She's not - Revival last year was embarrassing - she started on about the red one overtaking the green one. Gawd knows what Marcus Pye or the late HFF would have made of how far it had come off the rails,

I actually don't think she knows her arse from her elbow in F1 terms either as her experience in W has no bearing and again she is blagging it.

No doubt the white knights will quickly be along to play the misogynist card - to counter that you will see I have been a champion of the work of Jade Edwards on ITV4 - she knows the scoop and to a degree is far more up to date than P o'N. Everyone on the grid knows her and she gets the inside knowledge - something AP can only dream of

I'm no white knight, just someone with an opinion . Genuinely , I rate her . Of course she doesn't have the knowledge of Marcus Pye but she can read a race and speak well . Driving ability is irrelevant in a commentator but FWIW I've seen her race and she can certainly drive. Marcus' stuff is fine for anoraks like me, but for the typical Revival attendee ? Hmm , not so much .

I noticed the highlights show from last weekend was extremely short didn’t really
Get a feeling of any suspense as so much of the race was edited out a very poor effort compared to earlier events.

They cut most of the dross and showed the race (which was uneventful)… a marked improvement on the usual prattle content imo.

I admit to feeling somewhat irked when I noticed the progrmme would only be an hour long but, in the end, it didn't feel like it needed more than an hour. I know we're having a more competitive season this year but there still isn't that much happening during the races.

Real motorsport fans have SkyF1. Hours of coverage every weekend. Its bliss. biggrin

More seriously, F1 isn't as popular as you think it is in the UK. Ch4 has also paid and put in a ton of money to the 2 week Paralympics. So maybe you should just accept that other people are entitled to coverage of something that only happens every 4 years as it is!

TL:DR

Grow up ffs!
