Hi guys,

Thought this might be a good place to seek advice from anyone who has been to the Monza F1- first timer to the race and increasingly getting worried about the queue, chaos horror stories I keep on hearing! 😞

Were doing the three days and have Grandstand tickets for the Parabolica C section and we're staying in Sesto San Giovanni. Does anyone know the best way to get to the track? I've heard it's the train from Sesto SG to Monza Station and then a shuttle bus to the track?? Also, what time would be best to try and get down there each day? Im hearing 6am or 7am for the actual race day?? Are all fans funnelled in the same way (e.g. Grandstand and GA) or are there separate entrances? Im resigning myself to a scrum to get in but anything which could beat the crowds slightly would be preferable.

Many thanks in advance for any tips/advice people can give! 😀

I suggest you search for:
Going to the Italian Grand Prix (F1Destinations)
on FaceBook. Lots of useful info.
I went to Monza about 15 years ago, staying in Milan, travelling by train, and walking into the circuit from the station each day. But I’d say you need more up to date info than I can give.
It’s the most fantastic race, brimming with history.

A couple of what should be timeless tips:

The inside track area is a quite heavily wooded royal park. Some time during the weekend when you’re walking through this area during one of the support practice or race sessions, just pause for a few minutes and listen to the sound of racing engines filtering through the trees. A moment that’s largely unchanged from the early years of the circuit in the 1920s.

‘Health and Safety’ culture isn’t much in evidence, as at Imola and Spa. You could get fantastically close to the cars on track at several places when I was there, and I bet that hasn’t changed much. The best place to spend a happy F1 practice session is on the inside at Parabolica - very little comes between you and the cars and I was almost the only person there. You’re so close it’s really difficult to pan a camera fast enough to get a shot.

Have fun.

If you're travelling by train I'd suggest aiming for Biassono Lesmo Parco rather than Monza station itself. If you get off at Biassono Lesmo Parco you're a two minute walk to the Lesmo gate, then it'll be a nice walk through the Royal Park down to Parabolica. If you get off at Monza, you'll have to queue for a bus which then drops you a good 40 minute walk from the gate to the circuit, then you'll have to walk to Parabolica. Queues for leaving get pretty hectic from memory but I guess that's the same wherever.

That video put me off for 2023 and 2024. laugh

I was 50/50 on going in 2025 though.

I've been to Mugello for the MotoGP and that was pretty well organised. So it does seem a Monza thing for it to be so bad

I cant offer too much practical advice but I would say there are so many iconic spots and places to view from. As above take in the sound from around you. I happened to be working down there in Milan in 2012 and made this, it captures the magic of the place albeit it will be different on the f1 weekend. Let us know how you get on. I can't wait to go back it feels so special there.

I last went to Monza in 2017 and had been many times before that. Yes it was busy especially on race day, but nothing like that, and no problem taking in water bottles and a picnic. The kids are old enough for a race now and Monza 2025 was planned, but not after seeing that. F1 always tried to extract a lot of money from its fans but some of the stuff on that video is just cruel.

For those that went this year, how did you find it?

Monza is one of the races I'd love to go to and the wife mentioned we could go next year. She's not a full blown F1 fan but did enjoy the weekend at Silverstone however I'm not sure if she'd enjoy it as much if it's as badly organised as I've heard.
