I hope we all had a good summer break, the second half of the season could be an absolute cracker
We start at Zandvoort, a great circuit with usually lots going on. Max won his 9th race in a row last year, funny how things have changed. I expect Mercedes, Red Bull and McLaren to be too close to call, Ferrari maybe a whisker behind on the harder compound tyres.
Poll is for the win.
Date(s): Friday 23 August to Sunday 25 August 2024.
UK Broadcast Timings (and track time)
All sessions are live on Sky F1. Channel 4 is showing highlights of Qualifying and the Race.

The summer break swept by quickly!
I like this circuit even during seasons when one car is dominant, it's great that this time we have so many cars and drivers that are swapping podium positions each race - qualifying here should be epic and a fantastic way to kick start the second half of this season.
I voted for Piastri on the basis I have a hunch it'll be a McLaren weekend, and I reckon Piastri has Norris rattled.
Beyond this GP weekend, I'm looking forward to the remainder of the season, F1 is about as good as it gets right now

I’ve gone for Piastri too, he’s just getting the edge over Norris and the McLaren loves the harder tyres I like this circuit even during seasons when one car is dominant, it's great that this time we have so many cars and drivers that are swapping podium positions each race - qualifying here should be epic and a fantastic way to kick start the second half of this season.

Thanks again for the thread, the summer break always goes fast.
I have a feeling we might just see a Hamilton/Russell moment this weekend, either a first corner incident or a qualifying scrabble, they both seem to be simmering along currently with some tension rising.
Norris for the win and quite possibly by a wide margin!

It's very tough for GR that just ahead of the break he was DQ'd and has had several weeks to mull upon what is now a substantial points deficit to Lewis. I do think it's likely that'll put him into sink or swim mode when racing resumes, IE take more risks when trying to get one over on Lewis.I have a feeling we might just see a Hamilton/Russell moment this weekend, either a first corner incident or a qualifying scrabble, they both seem to be simmering along currently with some tension rising.

Although Lewis is pretty good at predicting such tensions and keeping out of danger - which is pretty much all he needs to do to maintain his lead until the end of the season.
I actually think the most inter team tension we'll see this season will be between Norris and Piastri - I can see Norris handling an increasing threat from his team mate quite poorly.

I hope Norris does not go downhill, he's a great character and a great driver that almost needs to back himself a bit more, I do wonder if Riccardo made him a touch complacent?

Anyway, it's the first time Norris has had to face a significant team mate challenge when it really matters. I get the impression Norris might not deal with that pressure well - I stand to be corrected of course! I'm sure he himself has given a lot of thought to coming back strong and focused.

The only thing Norris needs to do is work on his race starts. He still has the upper hand on race pace and tyre management. If he can nail his starts then everything else will fall into place.
I'd agree if the question was what he needs to do to improve his results as a driver, in isolation. But I think he may need to dig a little deeper in other areas to keep his team mate at bay for much longer. Piastri is looking to be the real deal, and incredibly focused - something which Lando isn't always blessed with.

Nice one mate.
Can't see past Max winning here.
Have to disagree. Now the illegal bits are off the car and he has to race I can see the red mist descending and him taking himself and someone else out of the race. Can't see past Max winning here.

Yup we will see if they have the pace advantage but if not, he is not going to want to be overtaken in this race.Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
