It is probably the most boring circuit to watch on TV and really should be cancelled, yet it is supposed to be really historic, so did a search and draw a blank?

So it was used early on.

Surely Silverstone is more historic yet there was talk of cancelling it a few years ago if memory serves me right, so is Monza.

Is it because influential people live in Monaco it is so important?

I yet to decide whether the Monaco race or painting the back door is more entertaining, watch the start and see.

Monaco is about quali. Always had been, unless it rains then all bets are off.

If you didn't enjoy yesterday then there is no helping you.

I caught sight of that. Makes sense if you're wanting to go for a drive and transporting it from one country to the other. I wonder if they just use a crane to get it on.

Quite simply if you are looking to close a sponsorship deal Monaco, Las Vegas or Abu Dhabi are where the Board Members make decisions. These people are not race fans and are buying into the adrenaline and ‘Willy waving’. There are few decent tracks for F1 but what’s on TV is how the teams sell opportunities to get into F1. You should have seen the Aston Martin backed AmFar dinner last Thursday. Monaco will survive, Silverstone may not.

Board decisions are made at board meetings.

A race is a nice place to do a handshake, or agree to explore a partnership, etc but the decision itself isn't made under the influence of Monaco.

Yes, Monaco is all about sponsorship and corporate entertainment. The fact the racing is pitifully poor seems to have little significance.

No, they have a ramp they carry around for that purpose. Stick it on the dockside, its gradient is perfectly designed to allow the F40 to land with precision on the yacht, positioned 50m offshore and perpendicular to the dock edge, if you hit the ramp in the F40 it at 45mph in 2nd. Use the engine speed to adjust pitch of the the car once airbourne to allow it land safely.

Dunno why but I've always liked it. Feels different and interesting, yes not much wheel to wheel racing but it's the ultimate challenge with no room for error. Always a chance of drama. One of my earliest F1 memories is Mansell's battle with Senna in 92 after he had the wheel nut issue. 1996 goes without saying. Even yesterday's race was livened up towards the end, just a shame Alonso wasted a pit stop, I doubt it would have changed the result but would have at least made things closer.

(and yes, I can see a bit of a theme here. As others have said it tends to be rain which makes it more interesting. Maybe they should install sprinkers around the circuit and set them off at random times biglaugh)
