Weird question, but is this some form of traction control? Or would it be some slippage in the drivetrain?

Does kind of look like it, but i wonder if we are just seeing this phenomenon (or similar):

...but from a side view?

"Resonance in the rear suspension" is one possibility mentioned, but that's just another way of saying 'axle tramp'. The slo-mo shot doesn't seem to show any vertical suspension movement typical of axle tramp or the like.

I'd have said it was more to do with the diff/a stage in the clutch engagement, something along those lines.

I thought it was interesting.

I don’t think it’s ‘axle tramp’ as there doesn’t appear to be any vertical motion in any part that’s in shot. Granted, everything is super stiff but wouldn’t you expect to see something?

Could be some slippage or play in the drive train. Possibly the clutch - although I’d have thought F1 cars to have some crazy form of a paddle clutch that doesn’t allow any play at all?

Maybe that guy, jsf is it? Would have some interesting input?

Don’t forget if at low revs the engine does ‘pulse’ noticeably, an ice isn’t like an electric motor, I guess it’s just this phenomenon together with how engaged the clutch is.

I wonder what effect the pit-Lane limiter switch has at launch. Presumably instantly limits torque dependent on tyre rotation at speed limit. Also recharge could act as a brake to limit rotation.

It certainly looks like traction control, but then there are just so many electronic elements to the cars and transmission, it no longer needs a few lines of software in the mapping to achieve a very similar effect.
