Mess about in F1 and you get made to watch Formula E as a punishment.
Verstappen serves punishment for Ocon shove
Max Verstappen has completed his first day of public service for pushing Esteban Ocon at last year's Brazilian GP, observing stewards at the Formula E race in Marrakesh over the weekend
What an inventive punishment, but is it a sleight on Formula E. It is dull and boring so maybe an effective punishment. Who needs floggings?

So you didn’t watch them but know theyre dull and boring?
I didn't say they were dull and boring.37chevy said:
For information, the races are live on the BBC this year.
But the distinct lack of trailers mean you don't know this. C4 bombarded us with trailers for the F1 races last year. You couldn't not know the F1 was on.Dolf Stoppard said:
I do wish they'd do more to advertise it. Also, I went to watch the first race on catch-up and it wasn't available. Pretty poor when you look at some of the rubbish that is on the iPlayer.
They tend not to advertise their red button/ online only content on the BBC between programming. Poor I know but the majority of us are in a digital world so if you were ever on the BBC website it was difficult to miss MitchT said:
I did't watch them because I didn't know about them. Whoever does their marketing need sacking. Brand awareness is zero.
You're clearly not its target audience.Last season, it attracted 300 million viewers globally. Average of 27million viewers per race - up from 18million from the season prior.
(For point of comparison, IndyCar achieves 412,000 million viewers globally).
340% growth in 13-17 year olds following it too.
And it's only four years since it was launched - it's a formula clearly in the ascendency and I'd suggest whoever does their marketing deserves promotion, not sacking.

But how many of those people were in the UK? I would suggest the person in charge of marketing it for the BBC needs sacked. I wanted to watch the 2nd race but had no idea when or where it was on. UK interest is not yet at levels similar elsewhere partly due to the fact that there is no UK round of the championship.

I will help translate this information for you - it was broadcast to a potential vast TV audience (if you take into account all the replay shows as well as the live events) but in spite of this huge potential audience no one was actually watching (they all turned it off after the first few boring laps).More here if you're interested: https://www.forbes.com/sites/setheverett/2018/07/3...

Appears to be a decent punishment for Verstappen. We were in Marrakech but didn't attend the FE. What's interesting is the manufacturers push to a younger demographic, many of which don't purchase cars. Uber is seizing control especially in the cities.
Oooh how exciting, a taxi company linked to motor racing I can just see it, FormulaUber, driverless racing cars where spectators can dial up the winner on their smart phone? FU rallycross said:

May come as a shock to you but not everyone is the same as you. I can't abide TV talent shows for instance but they are massively popular and attract huge global audiences.I will help translate this information for you - it was broadcast to a potential vast TV audience (if you take into account all the replay shows as well as the live events) but in spite of this huge potential audience no one was actually watching (they all turned it off after the first few boring laps).
I've been glued to all the FE races this season and they hold my attention far more than F1 has done in recent years but millions still watch F1.

The trailing on BBC channels is geared towards a much younger audience than C4 targets for F1. This adheres to the overall intent of FE in attracting interest from the under 25s. For example, there's a good documentary about Alex Lynne that was done via 'Newsbeat'.
I never knew there was a FE race either. Then again, I am also old, and avoid soshall me dyer, and avoid any newsbeat articles which I know is just Radio-1 rubbish.
I am not a fan of the BBC either.
