Incredible isn't it. 10 minute video to "explain" F1 tyres.

Just make the best tyres and forget the fudging, or even better have the same sizes as LMP1 so they can buy proper tyres from Michelin.
You're forgetting F1 is all about adding fudge after fudge to try and make it look more exciting, competitive and interesting than it really is.

Give an F1 car LMP rubber (including those amazing 'slicktermediate' tyres) and the need for pit stops goes out the window. And the (contrived by forcing Pirelli make st tyres) pit stops are still the main race position decider.

I like it. I think Pirelli are doing a good job especially this season. The Grand Prix need some element of strategy. If you want sprint races you have a vast selection of alternative series to watch. If you want an example of a fundamentally boring series with loads of gimmicks which contrive to create interest, wait for Formula E Gen 2.

What, are they changing to tyres that are designed to degrade and not last a race, and adding DRS in a desperate attempt to make it look like there's some racing and overtaking between equivalent cars?

No but they give extra power to drivers based on easily fixed polls and they're adding a mario kart power boost strip.

Each series has its own gimmicks (joker laps in WTCR for example). Some work, some don't. Purists hate all of it but there aren't enough of them to pay the bills.
