Hi All
I need some advice as it's the 1st time im going silverstone.
its was a last minute decision... its my weekend with the kids (8 & 9) and my birthday so ive treated us to the weekend.
we're camping at dadford - arriving friday (approx 7pm) leaving sunday after race.
i only could afford general admin for the 3day weekend (so no grandstand)
where is the best place for viewing with the kids? do i need to take chairs or is sitting on ground an option? is there somewhere where kids can see without some 6ft bloke blocking view? what time does the gates open and do i need to be up early?
being ginger is there any shade? or can i take a parasol?
any tips n tricks?
food prices (just for snacks & lunch as ill be bbq at tent on sat night)
any other wisdom you can divulge to help a "weekend dad" enjoy silverstone with his kids?

Cheers

where is the best place for viewing with the kids? - possibly along the Hangar Straight, slight banking to sit / stand on, Luffield has concrete terracing that you can stand on

do i need to take chairs or is sitting on ground an option? - sitting on ground at Hangar Straight is an option, but will kids mind?

is there somewhere where kids can see without some 6ft bloke blocking view? - only if they are at the front

what time does the gates open and do i need to be up early? 7.30am every day - if you want to be at the front, yes!

being ginger is there any shade? or can i take a parasol? - generally no shade, bring your own!

food prices (just for snacks & lunch as ill be bbq at tent on sat night) - extortionate

any other wisdom you can divulge to help a "weekend dad" enjoy silverstone with his kids? - bring something to keep them entertained, if they get REALLY bored, head towards the infield, there's some stuff for kids to do ( some of it free ! )

Cheers

Its a very big place, so you'll walk loads
It wll be dusty so sandles will be full of stones.
Its also noisy, and you cant escape the noise so bring ear defenders
And shade
And stuff for them to do.
Befriend neighbours as they will save your spot at toilet time
Camping could be noisy too
But the speed they go really is something special
Get one of them to cry when a driver crashes out so you could end up invited to the pits (expect tough competition this year, especially kimi fans....) maybe choose a Haas driver?
Everything is expensive.

Itll be amazing. Oh, and the red arrows too.
