I know I'll see more on the TV coverage but this has been on my bucket list for too long.
Our tickets for the weekend have arrived but no info on other events/races that I gather take place around the F1 schedule. How and when can I find out what else is on?
Is there a list of things we would not be allowed to take in (apart from the obvious illegal drugs/guns/knives etc) that I should be aware of? Again, nothing on the website.
Any other advice would also be welcome.
Thanks in advance.

The support races (in Europe anyway) are normally GP3, F2 and Porsche Supercup (2 races each) plus practice and quali sessions for them. As for what you can take in, food and drink are OK (including beer, cans not bottles, or any glass come to that). Camping chairs/stools/mats, flags, radios, binoculars, cameras all OK. Not been to Silverstone for a few years but the above is correct for Monza, Spa and Hungary.

ETA
If you're from the Netherlands it seems to be the norm to take in half a dozen orange smoke bombs each.

All the above are fine. If you'd like to have a look around and can manage it, a bike could be a godsend! it's a BIG place and you can easily end up walking several miles a day if you go on Friday and Saturday!

I imagine the timetable is still being put together.
The post allocations for the marshals only came out last week (Vale/pit entry for me)

About The only bit of the schedule I know is that I'll be trackside for the systems test Thurs lunch, and then there are some practice sessions - poss the historics and one or 2 other support races - during Thurs afternoon

Thanks guys (& gals).
We've treated ourselves to whole weekend Stand tickets so we'll be rolling up sometime on Thursday afternoon.
I found B&B within walking distance, just around the corner! I guess we'll be looking to local pubs for evening meals.

Where are you sitting compared to where you'll be entering the circuit? When we camped at Woodlands it was as good as the other wide of the circuit, about two miles walk from the entry to the grandstand.

I'll just update what i said earlier.

We were at the French GP last week and they confiscated all cans and all beer, there'd be a riot at Silverstone if that happened. I believe it was totally unconnected to their ability to sell you the stuff at 6 euros a pint inside the track.

I've got myself a ticket for Friday, my first GP visit. Does anyone know if motorcycle parking is free, like it is for MotoGP at Silverstone?

What's the traffic like on Sunday, getting in (and out)? Looks like I'll be in the Stowe grandstand.

We're going race day from brackley and getting the bus from the P&R (getting dropped off, not parking though), as we figure we can have some beers and not have to worry. Bonus is, we hope the buses have a pass/bus lane. The other half said they were sold out, but phoned up and managed to get some bus only tickets, maybe worth trying?

I've driven from Oxford several times and someones it's rammed, sometimes it's just be moving traffic at 9am. It's hard to gauge.

We've grandstand seats, so no worries about finding a place to see, but if you GA only, you want to get there early to find a good spot. It's a long day regardless, so ensure you take your time, don't get wound up and take water, it's going to be a hot one!
