Why would they when they've got juniors of their own? Makes no sense to put a McLaren contracted driver in the car.

Yes but Red Bull did allow Carlos Sainz to join Renault.

But you would think McLaren would be giving Lando a seat in place of Vandoorne if Alonso is not retiring.

But the article seems quite genuine.

Imagine if he does and beats the two McLaren's with the Honda upgrade.

Red Bull have literally nobody they can parachute in with the required experience...... The Red Bull junior program is all but dead!

I would reckon Red Bull would drop Kvyatt back in if they wanted rid of Hartley. I would love to know how Hartley got the drive in the first place? Sportscars too F1 is not the most obvious move and I can only imagine requiring a different style. I'm sure he only got the drive because he was an ex Red Bull junior, years ago......

edited to add...... They've probably lost any chance of Sainz wanting to come back off of loan as he would want to be in a Red Bull rather than a Torro Rosso! Red Bull expects loyalty from it's Junior Programme but as we well know they have a ruthless attitude to there your prodigies! Why would you show Red Bull any loyalty when they can drop you as fast as a turd clears a swimming pool.

There are drivers who used to beat Hartley who expressed surprise that he got the drive over them and they still have Red Bull connections...

A certain Michael Schumacher went from Sportscars to F1 biggrin

But I know it's pretty rare.

Jean-Éric Vergne was in the Red Bull garage at Monaco biggrin

He is leading Formula E Championship as well.

Still only 28 years old.

It must have been correct as McLaren have rejected the offer.

Could this mean one of the McLaren drivers will be gone at the end of 2018.

Surely Max Verstappen is an appropriate candidate.

Kvyat is too busy in Ferrari's simulator these days.

Kubica and Wehrlein are the others sat on the sidelines with a super licence. Has Norris even done enough to qualify for his super licence yet?

Brendon was quicker than Gasly in Monaco, what let him down was his qualifying run was a disaster of yellow flags and no clean run. Qualy is all that matters for race position at Monaco as we know.

It's too early to write him off yet, he has the ability to do the business, he just needs a clean run for the whole weekend and soon.

To be fair he has been pretty poor. Dangerous in one incident.

But to know your drive was being offered to someone else will not do his confidence any favours.

His feedback or something else must be pretty poor before Red Bull are so keen to get him replaced.

The Canadian GP will be his last if he does not have a fantastic performance which is not going to help him mentally.

Reading the Lando text in that article if Red Bull went back with a better offer he could yet be in a Toro Rosso.

His feedback is very good and he has a lot of experience of working with a factory team to develop a package. He needs a break, hopefully it comes soon as it would be a shame to see him replaced mid season.

I’ve been pretty critical of Hartley but this talk of having a different driver in the car by Canada is brutal even by Red Bull standards.

Which does beg the question of why, if jsf is correct and all Hartley needs is a bit of luck.

Hartley has a valid contract, give him the whole season, then make a decision. Totally out of order from Torro Rosso......drivers should only be replaced due to gross negligence'/ disciplinary reasons......

I don't know about that, but drafting Hartley in to broken biscuit engines at the end of 2017 and then trying to publically execute him after 6 race weekends of his first full F1 season is mercenary beyond belief.

No wonder Red Bull have no junior drivers left if Helmut is marching around cutting them off at the knees.

It’s not dead though, they’re just in an odd situation where the next couple of guys are another year or so away from being dropped into an F1 car especially with the new super licence system
