Reported today that Alfa (ferrari really) are shaping up to buy Sauber, so that'll be 2 teams Ferrari share data with, as if it wasn't already conspicuous that Ferraris long standing chief designer is the new technical boss of Sauber. Merc better hurry up and buy Williams and Force India, maybe they've already bought FI along with Rich Energy who its reported is interested in Force India, not sure what Monster would think of it though who are already Hamiltons personal sponsor

It's hardly a surprise. It's been speculated since the sponsorship was announced that it was just a prelude to a takeover.

Looks like Haas are going have to stand on their own a bit more then.

You do know that it is FCA (Fiat Chrysler Automotive) who own Alfa Romeo, not Ferrari? Ferrari was floated off as a separate entity a few years ago.

Of course, I am aware that there are still links within the F1 arena.

Sergio Marchionne is chairman and CEO of both FCA and Ferrari. Most of the main shareholders and board members of FCA are also still on the board and shareholders of Ferrari. Only a small percentage of the Ferrari stock was publicly offered. Ferrari was removed from direct control of FCA to enable the stock flotation, but it is still very much part of the same family with the same people still in control of all the brands. If 'Alfa-Romeo' buys Sauber then it will in effect become the Ferrari B-team, no matter what anybody says.
