Friday Practice at Silverstone 2018 - advice
Discussion
hi, I am taking my 8yo son to the Friday practice at Silverstone..... a handy inset day off has make some GA tickets possible. we will travel up in the morning (have parking sorted) and we don't mind early hours, a bit of making do etc etc.
I'm just looking for any pointers. Where to go. Must do's vs don't bothers etc etc
I have never been before and am a little unsure of useful tactics to get the most out of the day with an 8 year old. My son has suddenly become the fountain of all knowledge on the sport and its recent history. this trip is a bit of a try our for longer venture in 2019.
thanks

Unless it's changed some if not all of the grandstands are free access on Fridays, I tend to try and move around but the ones opposite the pit exit (Village/ the Loop corners) are a good place to watch. Also worth a wander down to Copse corner and Becketts complex, the speed they carry through there is impressive.
Take some comfy shoes or even consider push bikes which are a great way to get around
Lastly Silverstone often has it's own micro climate, prepare for both ends of the weather spectrum

I'm assuming you have a bit of knowledge of the track layout. If in doubt, ask Google.
There's a standing area in front of the grandstand at the 1st part of Becketts. Try to get there early, it will astonish you.
The 'fan village' is in the triangle between Luffield, Abbey and the Arens section. I imagine Liberty will do a decent job of making this entertaining.
Try to get to the beginning of the start/finish straight if the F2 cars are on track to hear some NA V8s at full throttle.
Enjoy.
