Hey guys,

Had some unfortunate news in that my dad is expected to have under 6 months left. He always used to go to the F1 when I was younger, and I was a bit too young so would watch out for him on the TV lol

Anyway I've been meaning to go to Silverstone with him for ages since moving away but given the circumstances will have to make this year the one to tick it off.

But theres a gazillion packages when I last looked! laugh

Wondered if anyone knew what the best seats in the house / package was?

He's not too mobile so really just looking to sit somewhere that's comfy, not crowded and with as best a view as possible - im guessing the pit straight?

A walk around the actual pits would be good too but main priority is looking for a good (enclosed?) Seat

Some of the other packages are on some of the more technical sections of the track - and some on terraces etc so am finding it hard to gauge what the best to go for is?

any ideas / opinions welcome, I've only been for the Moto GP where we were sitting luffield so not really sure what packages / vip / hopsitality etc are worth it or offer the best experience etc. Probably just go for th actual race on SUnday unless there's a better package available for any other days

Cheers in advance smile

also does anyone know from experience how accessible any of the options are? he uses one of those tripod wheel things to get about so obviously stairs aren't really an option (but lifts etc are)

Hi, British GP is pretty packed will large crowds which makes getting about difficult. How about the Silverstone Classic where the pits are pretty much open and can access most of the grandstands (which are all stairs AFAIK) or the easy access area around Luffield. Though I'm not sure if there is any seating there. He will get to see F1 cars from the 50s to the 80s then without the hassle of big crowds. Even a bus service to get you from one end of the circuit to the other.

Hope that is of help and sorry about your dad.

Sorry to hear about your Dad.

Cheekily email Silverstone, and tell them the story, they may find it in themselves to help, worth an ask!

Good luck smile

A wheelchair would probably be a lot easier to get around with than the tripod thing.

Sit and watch it on telly, that's the best deal you are ever going to get with modern insipid F1

Helpful for a man wanting to do something for his dying dad! Jesus.

OP best seats I would say to aim for are Copse, Abbots or Beckets. These are the fastest corners and give the best impression of just how fast F1 is.

Beckets is number one personally.

Can’t help with crowds though - everywhere is pretty much insanely busy.

Cheers for that smile Will have a look into that, see what the options are! He's an avid gp fan so I think if I can make the GP happen somehow it would be better but the classic is a good backup plan smile

Cheers smile just emailed them - even if they just give some advice on what will be the most suitable seats / package / options etc etc - looks like the hospitality email is the best to contact them on so tried there, will see what they say!

preaching to the choir, but it's his last bit of dignity and I'm not about to tell him he can't have it

Cheers - looks like some of those do have accessible seats so will have a look into that smile

Figured it would be the case with the crowds laugh not sure what the VIP / hopsitality packages are like - if they just mean an extra area and bar or two - or seperate seating altogether etc?

I know when I went to the melbourne gp years ago the ticket we got basically gave us access to a seperate bar with some big screens etc, which was good to get away for a bit, but not really worth it in this instance

had a message back from Silverstone and apparantly silverstone has the Driver's Lounge which gives some premium seating, food, entertainment and a viewing terrace which has lifts which could be good.

And then the F1 has a few of it's own packages including the paddock club and the redbull paddock club. The former adds a pit tour and the latter adds a meet and greet with the drivers which seems like it could be the perfect day. The bad side is that they are $3600-4800 a ticket and I'll have my flights from australia and a hire car to add to that. ouch.

Hoping I can sell a car or something quickly enough to make it happen but may be **** out of luck as they're down to their last few tickets. Will have to see how it plays out over the next couple of weeks.

Bit rich for my tastes, but I hope you get something worked out.

Failing that stowe is one of the best seats in the house ,if some dan dare lunges after the hanger straight is what you like to see

We'll be in club this year where you can see across to stowe, some of the stowe maneuvers also continue on into club

There are golf carts that operate all weekend and you can hop on them to get about; may be worth asking about pre booking but I was with my fiancé who had crutches; and they were happy to let us jump on. Saved us 30 mintutes walking each way; to / from our seats.

If I were in your shoes; I’d get a point of contact at Silverstone; and have things arranged. Otherwise you could be in for a very stressful day. Ask them about accessiblity and the golf carts I mentioned. Silverstone are generally very helpful with this stuff.

Very sorry to hear of your father. I hope you get to go; and that it’s a great day for you both.
