Hey. I have weekend GA tickets this year. Can’t wait.
Trouble is, I have not been since Damon crashed at Copse in 96..... so what advice can you offer.
Hotels.... I will get one though I can see already I will have a drive each day.
What times do you recommend getting in to the circuit each day?
Ideal vantage spots for viewing? I have previously been at Copse or Club but obvs Club has changed somewhat!!
No kids going... me, Mrs and both sons.
So, will see you there. I will be the one in the Mercedes top!

I've done GA in 2014 and 2017, on both occasions we positioned ourselves at Luffield. We think this is probably the best GA position on the circuit because:
1) very low catch fencing so unobstructed view of the cars if you're near the back of the terracing
2) cars come out of the first DRS zone in to Brooklands so always some overtaking happening
3) cars are in view for what seems like a good length of time, rather than blasting through at 200mph
4) big screen is easy to see
To get a good position here on race day we were at the circuit when the gates opened, so about 6am. It was more or less full by 7.30-8. On qualifying day it was a bit more relaxed, could get in around 7.30.
Friday practice is a free-for-all as you can get in to most of the grandstands on GA tickets, so it's best to do that.

The British MotoGP offers a large number of activities for the whole family. In Silverstone, there is always something going on both on and off the track. Check the schedule of this years’ trackside action and get the most out of your Grand Prix visit. The Silverstone Grand Prix circuit is located in central England, so it is an easily accessible destination. Silverstone is also a great starting point for exploring England.
The last couple of times I have been I have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express in Kettering and driven in from there. Prices at the hotel were very reasonable, obviously there is a small amount of driving to do but it’s not bad at all. there will be plenty of other F1 fans there to chat to in the evenings.
It’s been a long time since I did GA and I would suggest stumping up for a grandstand if you can stretch to it. It is SO much more relaxing to be able to amble to your seat a few minutes before the action starts, and not worry about saving spaces when going to get drinks and food. We have been at Stowe the last couple of times which has seen plenty of action, and the seat prices there (by F1 standards) are fairly reasonable.
If the last time you went was 1996, be prepared for a massive disappointment with the noise. You were being assaulted by V10’s back then and what we have now is colossally less atmospheric and way less viscerally impressive.

Tickets are now roving Grandstand Fri/Sat and Woodcote B Sunday.
Hotel out near Brackley - which might tie in ideally for the M40 park and ride (though it is not quite M40 - it is actually Turweston Aerodrome) although if I am coming from the hotel I might as well carry on and park at the circuit.
Would appreciate thoughts on
Woodcote B and the Parking idea!

I love the view from Woodcote, you get to see the cars coming towards you up the Wellington straight, through the fiddly slow bit and then flat out through Woodcote and down the old start straight into Copse. Great grandstand.
Woodcote is easily flat in the dry, but much more fun if it rains.

Me again.
Spurred on by the other thread fro GA on the Sunday, we have secured a hotel about ten miles away (past Brackley). Like stated before, we will go past one of the Park & Ride places en route to the circuit, but we also have parking secured at the circuit.
So therefore two questions:
One: Would you stick to the circuit parking, ignoring the cost of the circuit parking, or invest in Park & Ride?
Two: I am hoping the hotel will give us breakfast about 0630 to allow us to hit the road by 0700. Or do I need to get on the road earlier (especially Sunday).
Three (I know!): We have roving Grandstand Tickets for Fri and Sat - how quickly will they fill up for the Practise and Qualifying sessions?
