Ferrari - Race To Immortality
Discussion
Not sure which section to post this but I reckon this is as good as any - Mods feel free to move if not right.
Watched this last night - out on DVD and BluRay. The film delves into the Ferrari drivers of the fifties focusing mainly on Collins and Hawthorne, and the timeline runs from Le Mans 55 until Hawthorn's death in January 59. it's a study of the characters more than anything, with little or no technical detail to speak of, but some of the colour footage is spectacular. The Casablanca and Reims 58 stuff in particular is fantastic.
My earliest memories are playing with toy Vanwalls and Ferraris, so the film really struck a chord with me even though I wasn't born until shortly after Hawthorn was killed. Many will criticise it for ignoring certain aspects of the story and glamourising the fatalities, but I promise you that if you have any affinity for that era then you'll be transported back there.
Worth a watch.
