So, is the highlights version available for normal (non-Sky) viewers?

Can't find it on Freeview, don't want to sit up to my computer to watch it.

Or will I have to be content with the news that someone casually told me yesterday of who came first and second?

Any ideas?

I think my TV would get that (and iPlayer and YouTube) when it was new, now it won't frown

Clearly I need to through my very nice but 6-year-old Sony TV away and buy a new one... nup.

My virgin V6 box automatically records it in the suggestions section, even though i watched it on sky sports.

How does that compare to Amazon Firestick?

(No cable here so Virgin's not an option)

Simple - I expect your Sony TV as an HDMI and USB socket.

1. Use a tablet to view the Channel 4 On demand Formula One programme.
2. Plug a Miracast dongle into your TV. (about £15)
3. Screen Mirror the tablet screen and audio to your TV (remembering to turn up the tablet volume).
4. Sit back and enjoy.

This works for me using an ASUS tablet, but a recently purchased Samsung tablet will not connect to my Sony TV. Don't know why.

Do highlights still exist? I don't know if they still do but Eurosport used to repeat superbikes about 5 times during the week following, good if you missed a race, but now with on demand an irrelevance surely.

Well, the 'highlights' version was edited down with all the boring bits taken out. Continuity was still good. In that respect it was arguably better than the full version, and shown later in the day. However this time I hunted up and down the EPG to no avail. Still, it doesn't seem to matter now...

I like the fact that with the Roku you can have amazon, Netflix and many other similar programs on there.

You wont find an edited 1 hour highlights package with C4 as they dropped it. All they do is broadcast the live races that they have the rights to and the rest are delayed "as live" or partially edited down. In both cases they should end up on C4's on demand service later the same day. Previously there were delays in getting them online but this year they seem to be available much quicker than they were last season.

You have lost me there, Simpo.

Perhaps you do not use a tablet.
Although I am still a PC fan, I do admit that PCs are now hopeless compared to tablets, for quick internet browsing.

I just checked that it does work and yes, have just watched the start of yesterday's F1 race again.
I noticed that they call their app 'All 4'.
You can now watch FP1, 2 and 3, Qualifying, Pre Race Build Up, the Race, and Belgium GP Reaction.

How long they make this available for, I don't know, but I see that the Hungarian GP Highlights can still be seen.

ps. Think my Sony TV might be older than yours. One of the first full HD 1080p sets. Still does everything that I want, although I don't seem to watch much TV these days.

Aha, that explains it.... so next time I'll just record the whole thing and pick through it from there.

You're right. I hate tablets; my fingers seem to have the wrong capacitance to work them, are 1,000x too big to select a pixel and the keyboard covers half the screen smile

The Roku is a piece of hardware that you plug into your TV (into HDMI port). You have a remote controller just for this device (like a DVD player or similar).

You can install different programs on your Roku device such as Amazon, Netflix and many others. This allows you to watch from different streaming sources.

Same goes for an Amazon Fire TV stick.

Oh, so I have to buy a Roku and then something else as well to be able to see anything? I'm sorry, I have no idea about all this stuff that changes every week.

I think all of the streaming TV boxes allow you access to BBC iPlayer, ITV Player, 4od (or whatever it's called these days) and Channel 5's streaming service. Plus maybe some others. Usually you just need to download a (free) app.
