Forward thinking again by Ferrari frown

No doubt Vettel will be delighted he is safe.

What a total joke.

Comes as no surprise. Kimi is still very popular with the fans and no doubt sells lots of merchandise plus it keeps their WDC contender very happy. It's the way it's always been at Ferrari and there is a certain rationale behind it their strategy.

Still makes no sense whatsoever.

I am sure if Vettel decides he is not staying then Ferrari could approach 99% of the F1 grid and get another top driver.

To sign Kimi again is just lazy.

He will obviously be gone in a year or two so why put it off?

I think a good part of why both Ferrari & Vettel like him, is his car development skills - something of a in Seb's armour.

Fekc me with a blue cucumber, I've just been censored for a weakness of armour being a C H I x K, replace x with n. NO racial overtones meant or implied.

I do hope the F1 team managers read PH. It would make their jobs so much easier, all the expert advice............

Autosport certainly don't like him.

Does it piss them off royally that Maranello pay not a scintilla of notice? hehe

You would have though that by now they had the smallest idea of how Ferrari thinks.

Makes sense. Kimi is still quick and good at car development.
Max is unavailable. Bottas would have been a good alternative Finn.

How do you come to that conclusion?

The first of the three alternate positions is a non-starter for sure, there is no way Vettel would go to a team with Hamilton in it. But the other options?

I am also fairly certain, nowhere else for him to go with any chance of winning the WDC

I don't see what the issue is? It's not like it's a major shock.

It's stalemate in the drivers market for the top teams. Redbull is covered off, Mercedes too (like they would ditch Bottas!?!) Nowhere for Vettel or Fernando to go.

ELUSIVEJIM? He has beef with anyone about anything.

Glad to have Kimi back; team radio wouldn't be the same without him, but I reckon it'll be his last year with all the major switches due to happen in 2018.

Guessing your comment wasn't aimed at me smile Vettel will be announced on a 2 plus 1 soon. Perhaps at Monza for maximum effect. Which then leaves the field free for Hamilton to sign with Mercedes on a similar length deal.

So is this more about how Vettel wants to emulate Schumacher?
Keep a pet flunky to help him in races and set up the car?
