Good April 1st media item.... middle of August I wondered why they bothered with this?
When your current performance is rubbish, it does draw thoughts of surely you have something better to do. (Realise it's the PR peoples time and efforts and nothing to do with the car development but it still creates that thought).
Maybe just need to get used to more of this PR stuff and interaction from the teams they're punting out these days.

I think Neale had his tongue firmly in his cheek:
“Why not? Why not bring Formula 1 to the streets of Woking? Obviously, aside from the huge social and financial commitment needed to set up the infrastructure, re-profile roads, re-lay Tarmac, fit miles of Armco, build grandstands, pay for race-hosting fees and gain approval and sign-off from the FIA, we don’t see any barriers to our vision."
No hope then.

At least they haven't posted a story about performance gains on the engine now equalling Ferrari and Mercedes.
I do though think personally that this sort of story is indicative of corporate malaise at McLaren. Yes, it's the PR guys who have put the time and effort in, however, it almost certainly would need to be signed off by "someone". Focussing on this sort of fluff instead of winning races seems to be endemic for the McLaren team - I remember the "Lewis and Jenson" cartoons and so on back in the days when they had the best engine on the grid and still couldn't win championships.
Red Bull do it too, but for them it doesn't seem to distract the core team from their business of winning races. For McLaren the PR stuff seems to be the priority ...

The difference is though that RB F1 is just one arm of many, many aspects of RB PR. I do though think personally that this sort of story is indicative of corporate malaise at McLaren. For McLaren it's the only one.
