British GP - First time going

Afternoon all, newbie to the forum here. The Mrs got us tickets to the GP for Friday-Sunday at Silverstone (she's a keeper!).
Other than the advice on the back of the ticket sleeve, does anyone have any tips or advice on how to make the most of the weekend?
We've got tickets for the main stand on the pit straight, and parking IIRC. Just wondering basics on what to expect in terms of parking/driving up to the circuit, facilities on the day (are there traders etc.), and if possible how easy/feasible it is to get into the pits/hosp areas on Fri/Saturday?
