Brawn GP, where are the cars now?
Discussion
Excuse the odd/old question but was thinking about Brawn the other days, the cars were not allowed to run at Goodwood at the time
(extra testing and all that...)
I may be wrong but they have never been up the hill at goodwood or on public display.
Does ross brawn have them in his mansion, does JB have one.
Brawn is now mercedes GP, so are they in storage somewhere. Do no cars exist?
I would like to see one...

As the team was seriously short of cash following the sale from Honda to Brawn they only built 3 chassis.
BGP 001-01 (the first chassis) was used by Rubens Barrichello from the first race until the Singapore GP where he was given a new car (BGP 001-03) after he damaged the chassis of 01 when he crashed in qualifying.
BGP 001-02 was used by Jenson Button in every practice session, qualifying session and race from the 1st round in Australia to the penultimate round in Brazil.
Apparently Ross Brawn owns BGP 001-02 personally. It was been painted in Mercedes colours after they took over the team but was later returned to the original livery.
Jenson Button later sued Mercedes (as the new team owners) for breaching his contractual right to one of the chassis after winning the WDC. Mercedes eventually backed down and gave him a car so I assume he has either chassis 01 or 03 and Mercedes have which ever is left.

That's a Honda/BAR from earlier on by the looks of things.
Didn't Brawn run up the hill at GFOS in one of the cars in very recent times? Perhaps last year or the year before?
If that's Brawn's personal car surely the chassis number is noted in Goodwood media somewhere?
EDIT - Brundle did it last year. Chassis number 02.

That's an '07 or '08 Honda painted up in Mercedes colours, or at least the chassis is. The rest of the pieces seem to be a mish-mash, for example it has 5-1 exhaust collectors from an earlier V10 car.ralphrj said:

Mercedes ran the car in this livery at Goodwood FoS in 2010 and 2011http://www.f1fanatic.co.uk/pictures/goodwood-festi...

The odd thing is the post above yours says JB has 02: so both Ross and Jenson are claiming to own the chassis JB raced most of the season. (I'd not just seen it in that post - there are plenty of references about that JB took the team to court to get 'the right car' - i.e. the one he raced.)BGP 001-01 (the first chassis) was used by Rubens Barrichello from the first race until the Singapore GP where he was given a new car (BGP 001-03) after he damaged the chassis of 01 when he crashed in qualifying.

So I wonder who actually has it?

I haven't seen any evidence that Jenson owns chassis 02. The poster above my previous post quoted wikipedia as a source which is odd as as wikipedia says that Ross Brawn owns chassis 02 ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brawn_BGP_001#Produc....So I wonder who actually has it?
In addition, Button's legal case against the team was not to get 'the right car' but to get hold of a car. The writ that Button's company served on Mercedes stated that his contract included the following clause:
'In the event that the driver wins the championship at any time during the term, the company shall transfer ... ownership of one chassis of the type driven by the driver during that winning season.'
Nowhere does it say that he was entitled to the chassis that he raced in the nearly all the races - just that he was entitled to a chassis.
He had to do this because Mercedes didn't want to handover a chassis and had offered to build him a replica instead (the writ included emails from Mercedes to Button stating this). Button rejected that offer as he felt that a replica would lack the "special and unique" value of a genuine car. Mercedes eventually agreed to give him one of the other two chassis.
I'm certain that Ross owns chassis 02. I caught a brief interview on TV yesterday from the Goodwood FoS where he talks about the car belonging to him, taking up space in his garage and that this was the first time it had been run in the original Brawn GP colours since the 2009 season.
Ross definitely, 100% has chassis 002 (Button's car), it was sat in storage for 5 years but he decided he wanted to get it out there which was when he sent it off to D3 be prepped for FoS 2016.
There were plans for it to be used for various things after that but I'm not sure what happened. I believe the (rather significant) funding to prep it for FoS came from a certain Lord March. Parts for the cars are pretty much non-existent, they ran most of the season on a ridiculously tight budget with barely enough bits to get from race to race.

He's 100% accurate. Ross owns it. I confirmed that with him at JD Classics when he also signed my Kitson original of the car So I wonder who actually has it?
