Thank you BBC news you ungrateful sods
Discussion
BBC news on earlier today, no warning no nothing - bham the results of the F1.
Oh but for every football game, a nice little "if you don't want to know the results look away now".
I recall a similar complaint was recorded on PoV at sometime last season, BBC response was "we don't warn people for sports we don't host, and most fans would know anyway". Of course, that doesn't stretch to other sports such as Cricket, Football, Rugby which they may show a highlights for.
Last GP my selfish flatmate blurted it out just as I was watching it, this week the BBC. I refuse to pay sky so shouldn't be penalised for it.

So BBC are ungrateful for some reason and your flat mate is somehow selfish for making conversation- but you won't pay for Sky which would solve the problem. You are expecting others to protect you from the sports results. Sounds like the problem is with you.
so you think I should have to worry about the bbc not using a bit of courtesy, they used to warn when they showed f1.You seem to be a pleasant chap.

Thank you, you're quite perceptive.PH XKR said:

It happens to me sometimes. Rather than blaming the BBC / my flatmate etc etc, I just think to myself "It was a bit stupid to watch / listen to the news" or "duh, why did I have to idly scroll through Facebook..."PH XKR said:

It was on ITV and Sky News as well plus local radio news updates syndicated from those sources.Oh but for every football game, a nice little "if you don't want to know the results look away now".

Best not to listen/watch anything ... unless you like rant of course
BBC only warn you of the football results when the news is on just before Match of the Day, which is also a BBC programme.
They are hardly going to worry about C4 highlights.
I got caught out last weekend when I was listening to TalkSPORT and muted it every news / sports bulletin so not to hear the result. Believe it or not they had a quiz and the opening line to one of the questions was "Vettel won the race earlier today...":-(

Only solves the problem if you watch it live, which would be slightly insane to do for every qualifying and race.Does annoy me too, BBC radio seem to make a point of not even saying 'In F1 news...' or similar but blurting it out right at the start.
Imagine if the BBC did that for all sports? They would never report anything!
"...and sports news now,in the tennis one of the players won, the test match ended in victory for one side, some football was played today which resulted in victories for some of the teams and Hamilton won the Formula One."
"Oops, bks."

Just avoid the news
How hard can it be?
Just how stupid are some of you lot in here? Avoiding the news in a 24x7 news society? Switch the radio off, switch the TV off, Switch the Internet off, switch the phone off. Great, sit down, tt flat mate blurts it out?How hard can it be?
At least radio 4 gives some level of warning, BBC news just goes and starts "and XXX won the grand prix, we find out more later in the sport section".
This never used to be a problem.
