I will be in Montreal on the sunday of the Grand Prix. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant or bar where we can watch the race , big screen area or anywhere apart from inside the circuit ?

I can't help you with that, but this is worth considering:

Joe Saward runs an event prior to the race, normally including Canada:

A font of knowledge.

Buy a ticket and get along to the track, way better and there are huge screens there, with real surround sound.

Bumping this thread as Dad and I secured tickets to the GP yesterday. We're staying in Saint Hippolyte around 1hr north of Montreal (timeshare accommodation - was the only way we could go!) and looking at options for getting down to the circuit on Sat and Sun. Initial research suggests driving to somewhere near a metro station in Montreal is the best bet, then get the metro to the actual park - any one care to recommend/advise?

Did this a few years ago and the Metro is a great way to the circuit. Very well organised and only a 10 minute walk to the circuit from the station.
