Not sure which points system was the 'fairest' but I like the idea of only taking a driver's best finishes.

These journalists must be exceedingly bored and quite desperate.

I didn't see mention of the double points for the last race joke that was around a few years ago...

More pointless column inches: ignores that both drivers would behave differently were the implications of the results different. If Rosberg needed to win the final race, rather than just make sure he wasn't too far behind Hamilton, both would have developed other strategies.

I think it was Hammy's failure to make enough best starts that did him.

This always drives me mad. If you go back and make any significant change the future wouldn't stay as it was, everything has a knock on effect. "If Hamilton hadn't had that engine failure...", if he hadn't had that engine failure, every single race after would have potentially played out differently in one way or another. Has nobody watched Back to the Future?!

F1 journos trying to justify their existence in the quietest month of the year?

And they seem to think there was only one points system prior to 1981.

Both made some poor starts, Mercedes did say there was an issue with the clutch. The biggest single item was Malaysia, this caused a 28 point swing in Rosberg's favour.

I predict Hamilton will end up with more wins than Rosberg next year.
