So, was Perez keeping his options open because this sale might not have gone through, in which case he was going to move elsewhere with his sponsor money, but as the sale has happened he stays put ?

It would make sense that the team was for sale - Subrata Roy has finally been released on bail, but his problems are not over. Mallya is still hiding out in London and unable to return to India. Nether of them need the team.

I guess we just wait to see if it is true.

I'm sure the team's market value is very strong at the moment as they have regularly embarrassed some much bigger teams with a lot more money. Good bonuses due from points already accumulated too.
