Is there no limit to what Ecclestone can get away with?

Just read that Bernie has told Hockenheim that he'll half the race promoter fee - as long as he is the promoter and gets all ticket sales.
How, in any company can that not be seen as conflict of interest? I'd be GPM'd instantly for any deal that benefited me not the company, under any circumstance.
He's an enigma that Ecclestone, he really is!

I disagree about him being an enigma. I believe his motives are clear, and have been from the time he sold off Brabham. How, in any company can that not be seen as conflict of interest? I'd be GPM'd instantly for any deal that benefited me not the company, under any circumstance.

Bernie is pretty good at what he does. F1 wouldn't be the sport it is without him.
Indeed it wouldn't be the sport it is, it would be the sport it's supposed to be, without all these ridiculous rule changes every 5 minutes just because "he can" classic example the mess he made of the qualifying system that was dropped after 2 races with pretty much no prior consultation 5 minutes before the season started.
