I am sure he has a job anytime he feels ready at Renault. I wonder if R Dennis has his mobile number?
That would be a great addition for McLaren, but you feel he may end up at Renault.Given what's happened in his life, I would think his kids are his prime concern currently. Hope it all works out for him whatever he decides.

He has 3 children aged 17,21 and 23 and even though the youngest is still at school it's not as though they will need his daily care. Whatever his reasons I wish him well. I read the same thing on James Allen's website but (and no offence meant to you) I can't believe anyone who has kids would claim that his children ages have nothing to do with his decision. They might not need their arses wiped but you can only begin to imagine the support and care young adults will need following the loss of a parent.
Oh I agree completely and I didn't take offence either. Something very rare on PH Dr Z said:
Apparently, some engine guy has taken over the TD position in the interim. This season has gone from bad to worse for Ferrari. I remember reading that they were interested in James Key at some point?
I'd imagine James Allison was quite far down the line with 2017's car, specifically with aerodynamic efficiency, so the issue won't kick in for 18 months at least.deadslow said:
I would like to see Newey have a go at Ferrari, but I doubt he would enter the pressure cooker environment of that team.
My understanding is RB only enticed/retain Newey because of the authority/freedom they allow him compared to other teams. Fez I just can't see happening. No disrespect to James Allison but there has been speculation for some time while fez have seemed desperate to cling on to him, I wonder if thats really been the best thing for them.

If they haven't tempted him by now & he hasn't taken them up on it, I would be pretty sure that with the Aston Martin project, he won't be going anywhere. I would also imagine that any offer they might have made him in the past would be have basically been the entire candy store.Which leaves us with the interesting question of who are Ferrari going to get in?

It's quite well known in the racing world that Ferrari has been trying to get Newey for nearly 15 years. I think they even signed a letter of intent back when he was at McLaren but Ron had a watertight contract at the time.
As time has gone on and he has won more championships he doesn't feel the need to throw himself into the cauldron of Ferrari politics. In the Todt/Brawn era it would have been fine as they both did a great job of keeping the bullst out but as soon as they both went it became the same old madhouse. Even a lot of money is not worth the pain for someone as established, wealthy and successful as Newey. He has a lot of autonomy at Red Bull which suits him very well.
