Jensons future

I can't think McLaren will retain him despite his commercial appeal. Depends on their contractual situation with SvD I suppose. I like the idea of him at Williams to bring his career to a close, but mostly for sentimental reasons. I have a feeling Williams may slip down the order a little further next season, but hope I'm wrong. Ferrari with JB would be great also, but again I cant see that happening.

Current 2017 lineup, lots of empty seats
A few there are unconfirmed rather than empty though, surely?Team | Driver 1 | Driver 2 |
Ferrari | Vettel | TBA |
Force India | Hulkenberg | TBA |
Haas | TBA | TBA |
Manor | TBA | TBA |
Mclaren | Alonso | TBA |
Mercedes | Hamilton | TBA |
Red Bull | Ricciardo | Verstappen |
Torro Rosso | Sainz | TBA |
Williams | TBA | TBA |
I think JB would be a good option for both Ferrari and MB. A dependable #2 who will consistently bring the car home in a good position, won't challenge your #1 too hard whilst at the same time keeping them honest, and if they do end up wheel to wheel has the experience, skill and racecraft to keep it clean.

Dependable no.2?He's out-scored every team mate he's had over his career. I think he's a bit more than a dependable no. 2!
I have always felt a bit sorry for Jenson; he has out scored every team mate that he has had, he gets on with it, he has great race craft, doesn't rock the boat, he can be relied upon, is awesome in the rain and changeable conditions and yet he just seems to be a bit un-loved amongst the top F1 bosses.
He's not outscoring FA this season!
Typically he's out-scored through dependability and bringing the car home than through anything special, where his more 'flamboyant' team mate will be more prone to 'incidents'. You wouldn't see him as a real challenger to Vettel or Hamilton at the moment surely?

And being dependable and bringing the car home are fine reasons to score points. "incidents" are expensive both in terms of lost constructors points as well as the actual cost of rebuilding cars.
He might challenge Vettel, he seems a bit prone to incidents at the moment.
I highly doubt Jenson will be at Mclaren next year, Mclaren can't afford to keep Vandoorne out of F1 for another season or Vandoorne will find someone else to take him next season and Mclaren wouldn't want that to happen.
For Jenson I think the only smart, and potentially realistic move for him is Williams. No other team makes sense, an opening at Williams is all but confirmed with the several hints dropped of Massa's overdue retirement from the sport, Ferrari wouldn't take him as they want someone young and upcoming, Red Bull/TR is a no go they stick to their own drivers and no other team makes sense unless he wants to spend his remaining races towards the rear of the field, maybe Force India as an outside chance but Williams is a far safer bet.
Drivers market is hinged on Raikkonen of all people - If Ferrari sign him up then the line up of Force India and Haas will likely remain as is and Bottas would remain at Williams which will also limit the movements in many of the other teams -If Ferrari let him go then one of those 4 would likely go to Ferrari, I can't see anyone else going there due to other commitments and the likely veto Vettel has on who his team mate is. Purely from an excitement perspective I'd love them to let Raikkonen go, it would mix up the driver line-up far more than it has done in the past decade if that happened and I don't think Raikkonen does enough these days to warrant a spot in one of the top 3 teams, if Ferrari were closer to Merc you couldn't rely on modern day Raikkonen to get you a good haul of points every race to challenge for the constructors championship and that is what Ferrari really need, someone good enough to bring home the points but not good enough to upset Vettel regularly.

Alonso or JB to merc
Rosberg or jb to Ferrari
Massa dropped
Kimi dropped
Kyvat dropped
I think Williams are waiting on jb they rly do want him back Claire williams has wanted him for the last 2yrs now!
If mclaren drop him after 2 yrs of driving that dog just as the car comes good I'd be dissapointed
But he's not with Jessica now so has his Japanese ties with Honda dried up a a little
And Vandoorne is waiting in the wings
In all fairness if I was mclaren Honda is be investing in sauber and sticking Vandoorne in there for a season to gain experience as I imagine mclaren is like a pressure cooker atm and I don't think he will deliver neither
And yes jb has out scored the likes of Hamilton and Alonso and let's be honest there's only 4 points in it now! When the cars good he's a bloody good racer he doesn't cost the team a lot in accidents and is very dependable
