Just read this from Joe Saward and wonder what the impact will be on Force India - https://joesaward.wordpress.com/2016/02/16/another...

Even if the teamis ring-fenced financially (which the article suggests may not be the case) where will future funding come from if the "sponsors" have no money?

This has been going on for ages, I don't "really" understand it all however if you search through Joes blog there are quite a few articles detailing it.

In answer to your question will it affect FI.. I think the answer is probably somewhere along the line.

It's all funded by a big loan from Diageo. One wonders why they pursued the title sponsorship at McLaren when they had the thick end of £130m on the line at FIF1.

Roy Sahara wants to buy his way out of jail and Mallya is "robbing' Peter to pay Paul.

Net effect is a team with no money, especially if they took a big advance from FOM for 2016.

I'd say that Hulkenberg's place must be at risk from anyone failing to secure the second seat at Manor....

But to anyone wanting to enter F1, the team could make sense, especially if Diageo "invested" the loan.

Hasn't the loan already been invested and is now just a debt that needs to be repaid? Somehow, anyway!

Joe Saward shows an almost obsessive interest in Force India's finances and has for a while. I wonder if Vijay denied him access to one of his famous parties once? ;-)

I suspect if such enthusiastic investigations were made into 1 or 2 other teams the same kind of murkiness would be found.

In fairness, Vijay Mallaya is one slippery dude. His finances are the stuff of novels, a very sharp operator. Its hardly surprising that journos want to investigate him. If he played things straighter they would leave him alone.

He's a saint compared to someone else no longer in F1 and given Joe's connections with that team and its owner, I'm surprised he's raking over the coals of Force India. But there are good hard facts behind this particular situation and all is in the public domain.

Yes, some of the things I heard about that team during its last couple of seasons were pretty interesting - dating from long before it was sold to the bloke who cleaned the toilets.

Wouldn't have anything to do with Force India instigating court proceedings against said team that he was affiliated with would it...

I normally have a lot of time for Joe but his focus on Force India can become tiresome at times, however after getting rid of Flav we certainly don't want someone of his ilk in the paddock again, which I can see VJ being.
