Lewis on 60 Minutes US...

Oh lewis lewis just concentrate on racing why don't you, you'll be retired by 40 and have plenty of time for singing later, but one thing that confuses me is he says in there [studio] I can be me, sorry but I thought he could be him at merc too, they give him all the freedom he wants, McLaren wouldn't of allowed it but I thought he was clear of that at merc.
Why shouldn't he be allowed to do what he wants to do? Don't we all have hobbies? If it makes him happy and is a stress relief it's a good thing. Let's face it other drivers have their own hobbies like motor cross, rallying and other sports....
....not exactly done him any harm this year has it?!

Should stick to driving; I fear this will indeed sway his focus.
He thinks the opposite and his performance in the car proves his point. The McLaren approach clearly doesn't sit well with him (and I dare so probably doesn't for most drivers), the freedom for Mercedes to pursue his own interests is paying off for him and the Mercedes brand.ukaskew said:

Look at what he did in Mexico - great stuff for a new track/emerging fan base.
Which is what F1 desperately needs - personality and brand awareness as FOM and the FIA seem to exist in a bubble.
I don't like some of his other off track theatrics but full marks to him on his brand mission.

Recording songs and releasing albums sounds more than a hobby to me, woodturning/model plane flying/painting I class more as hobbies, while lewis was out celebrating in Grenada where do you think Nico was, while lewis was out partying with his gangster pop star mates where do you think nico was?
I want lewis to at least match vettels 4 championships if only to wipe the smugness off the Germans face, if it were me I'd be on triple shifts on the sim, come 40 when he retires they'll be plenty of time for his singing.
Get a grip lewis!

I'm not tribal in the way you clearly are. Most drivers look smug/arrogant when they win multiple WDCs (Except maybe Prost). Vettel has been pretty humble and quite funny this year, no toys out of pram when he isn't winning.I want lewis to at least match vettels 4 championships if only to wipe the smugness off the Germans face, if it were me I'd be on triple shifts on the sim, come 40 when he retires they'll be plenty of time for his singing.

It's about brand, that is where the real money is. See Beckham, etc.

But how much money does anyone need...
No idea. But if he makes 4 billion from merchandising/rights/etc and sets up a foundation to do good things then there is never enough... which I could see him doing post racing.Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
