Observations from Texas...

for once, the tyres actually worked great for the race, nobody had them fall off a cliff, they all seemed pretty consistent over their stints, and nobody had one fail.

Yes, it was somewhat wet, but I am thinking there must be something different about the surface of the cct here? or is it simply that due to the rain, it was very 'green' once it dried up?

what I am getting at here is that we have had the softs used all over the world, yet this is the first time I can remember where their performance has not fallen off a cliff as they wore out, and they were wearing out pretty fast (relative to other ccts).

The result was probably the best racing we have seen this year.

Did the SC and virtual SC periods help prolong the soft tyres life, and give opportune moments to change tyres? Cool and damp track must have helped too.

I don't think the conditions allowed the cars to be driven very hard, given how competitive Red Bull appeared to be vs Merc, and McLaren vs everyone else! Despite lots of slipping and slidding out of the turns. What I'm getting at is perhaps the rears didn't take much stick.
