Manor have announced they will have Mercedes engines for 2016, along with gearboxes from Williams

Hopefully this will make them a lot more competitive next year smile

I wonder if McLaren will be able to keep up?

The Williams suspension and gearbox is also interesting.
All Manor have to make is tub, bodywork and the electrical, hydraulic and cooling systems.

So a Manor with a Mercedes engine and Williams transmission and suspension? it'll be a Williams then? lol

That confirms to be me that Renault buying lotus is a done deal.
And as manor obviously don't have the cash to get these engines outright that they have become the same as Haas is to Ferrari.

Probably expect wherlien to be in the manor next year.

Also; I can nearly hear red bull cursing from the other side of MK..

Kinda going down the Haas route with Williams rather than Ferrari by the sounds of it, would be good to see them challenging the mid-pack rather than just running around by themselves at the back.

I think aerodynamics may play at least a small part in these cars as well. hehe

I think it's only right and proper that the big teams take a small team under their wing

Its good that Manor are getting all the good components from other teams the problem will be the installation.Come the first teat next year the car will only go 100 mph forwards but 200 mph backwards.

On the midweek F1 show Ted Kravitz seams to think that Haas will not score a point or maybe one and David Brabham thinks they will be running at the back for at lease the next 4-5 years.I think they will be midfiels by the middle og the season and score quite a few points. It will be interesting how they get on.

I also think that in the next few months there will be agreement that Honda and any other new engine manufacturer in the future can play catch up.I can see Honda in the midfield by the middle of the season and be looking at the last step of the podium by the end of 2016.

JB WDC 2017 that would be nice.

Sure. A date with Elle MacPherson would be nice as well, as there's about as much chance of that happening.

You have to take your hats off to the Manor Management. They have gone from insolvent to a new HQ, new sponsors, best engine and partnership with Williams in less than 10 months

I think they will beat McLaren, Sauber, Haas next year

Exactly what I'd have said in December 2008 when Honda quit F1.

I think that's probably a bit optimistic unless they've managed to poach a top aerodynamicist that I've not heard about. Obviously Haas are a complete unknown but I could certainly see Manor finishing the odd race ahead of some of the current mid-field teams rather than being seconds off the pace.

Could we see these challenging for reg points?

Merc Engine
Williams suspension and gear box

Merc have said Manor do not have to have a Merc driver because Manor require £££ as they have limited budget, but it wont be a supprise

I don't see who's going to be slower than them. I think they'll be much closer to the pack, but in a dogfight with Hass while looking at the backs of Saubers and McLarens.
