So with the new regs on start procedures are they going to get mugged off the line even more than the last two races?

I was wondering if they have already "prepped" for the new procedure and this is what the problem is.... Well, I hope so or else they are going to get mugged.

Well there were utterly mugged by Ferrari today, so they need to do something.

Yes but we don't know if the rest were still using the computer starts, if the were then it shows just how much they rely on the software, once the clutch operation is solely down to the driver they may all equal out again, maybe merc might pull a gap due to them having a 2 race weekend head start?

A change of regulations normally hurts those who are benefiting from the regs as they are now, and that ain't Merc.

considering they now have 8 speed boxes and engines with much lower RPM limits I'm struggling to understand what's so hard about getting one of these off the line?

I wouldn't expect them to say anything else!

you do realise that it's a hybrid design, yes?

You do realise the whole system is ECU controlled and thus torque mapped?

Adjusting for clutch wear, was what was mentioned.

But I think it is the launch map that has to be used for the full lap that is the problem. Nico could not even get the jump on Kimi (with dud KERS) at the restart after SC.

I hope they get mugged, it makes the racing fantastic. In fact they should just start the Mercs in P5/6 every race.
Presumably Nico in 5th, Lewis in 6th?

All that's being changed is the drivers cant do a clutch bite point check post leaving the pits, its not going to change anything worth talking about and certainly wont alter the importance of a well programmed launch strategy.

Nico 5th, Lewis 16th would do for me. At the start or the finish tbh.
