Something that's just been revealed, I don't understand it, what does it do?

It appears on the face of it that it's the same principle as 'fric' but just on the front and not connected to the rear thus it is legal

There's not really a lot on it just a couple of sites reporting it hence the choice of title to this thread

Biggest story is that Mercedes have admitted that Ferrari have all but caught up in the engine department.

I suspect Ferrari have caught up in outright power, but I have a feeling that Mercedes are still in front with average power over the whole lap by harvesting more from the MGU-H and feeding it straight into the MGU-K.

Yes, a big mistake for him to leave. Then again, Ferrari must be rueing letting him, and not Raikkonen, go.

Not sure about the Ferrari catch up story in bhp terms. They have closed the gap, but merc had issues earlier in the year so had to turn the engine down, i think it was something to do with the injectors i read. Anyway this has been sorted so they can now be volume 11 again and have a small power advantage, one of the reasons ferrari has dropped back

Also the way they can set up the chassis/engine in terms of making the car handle well under braking, corning etc is where they really gain. This is the ace card as the works team, others have the same piece of kit but do they have the same maps etc, this is what mclaren complained about last year.

Ferrari haven't been as close since they tightened up on the fuel flow.
