As a kid I grew up with F1 being on every other weekend through the summer. Now it feels like F1 seems to have become a spring/autumn sport.

I know the German GP got cancelled, but why are there such big gaps around this time of year. What is the actual reason for the August break?

Because all the races have left Europe, and europe summer is best time for races.

Hopefully a German GP returning will improve matters next year

They do a lot of hopping and trotting around the globe these days and the logistic involved are enormous. So, they do need some sort of mid-season break.

There are a lot of events that they have to long haul to so that we can look at the well built empty stadiums in exciting backgrounds. So they need more time between races to get there. Personally I would be happy if they just sent me a picture of many of these "events" and kept racing where the fans wanted.

Because maybe just maybe the staff running the teams deserve a break like the rest of us. Its always been the case for the last 10 years or more specially in august.

Selfish mode. I'd rather watch them in the winter when it's raining here anyway.
