Will Red Bull quit F1

I was of the understanding that the team had to compete until 2020, but it doesn't necessarily need to be called Red Bull.
I think you will find that the rules (or rather the basis for negotiation or, failing that, something to overrule) require a team to keep the same name. However, they can change it over time. One year they could be Red Renault, and the following year Renault. If they don't then the team with the new name starts without any of the bonuses that RB receive. That said, rule are not rules in F1 it seems, and there have been more accommodations than all the Hilton Hotels.
They seem to have turned into what Ferrari was a couple of years ago. "We aren't winning, we don't like it and we are going to complain about it to anyone who will listen instead of actually working to get ourselves out of the hole we're in."
Hint to Christian Horner and Deitrich - take a look at Williams and the fact that when they were down, they worked and worked and didn't threaten to take their ball home. It's called dignity, something RB seem to have forgotten exists.

I think they should be shown more respect, I have massive respect for Red Bull from an engineering perspective - but they have behaved poorly to Renault. How French;-)
I prefer McLarens "win together, lose together" motto.
I would lay money on the divorce and then exit of RB as a team (though I think they would become a sponsor)
My guess is that everything depends on what happens when Renault use their final tokens at Sotchi. The final decision as to what Renault will do in the future rests with their board and not RB, or the engine dept.
If the new bits work, then I guess Renault will buy a team, logically Lotus, may be TR, and then RB are faced with a difficult choice. Ron made the point that there is little point in being a non-works team. If the bits don't work then RB have the same problem, only bigger.
Being a bit player until 2020 is not in their vision, selling to another manufacturer will be difficult given the problems Honda have highlighted with their efforts so far.
It is also interesting that Renault have given up supporting FR3.5 http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/120093... They are clearing the decks for something different, the status quo is not any longer an option.

He keeps wheeling this one out. He was the works team in 2009, and was then beaten by a hastily bolted-in customer team. Sure - works is an advantage, but it's not the solution.fomb said:

The hybrid powerplants require so much more integration to the various electrical systems now that they are key to performance.
Ron is right - you will not win the championship with a customer engine.

This is total fantasy, but I wonder if Williams could be sweet talked back into the glory days if Renault power with the promise of cash from RedBull/Renault. They'd probably take one look at what how McLaren have done running on nostalgia and run a mile.
Williams were running Renault power pre hybrid and got nowhere, the best decision they've made in the last few years is to spend more money and get a Merc lump in the car. I really should be possible for Renault to catch up on the engine if they are motivated to do so. Ferrari have made massive leaps forward with the engine this year, to the point where most 'experts' seem to agree they very close to Mercedes now. I mean if the Redbull had a motor with Ferrari level of performance they would probably be beating Ferrari and challenging Merc frequently.
