Got home yesterday to find that SWMBO had organised a surprise bday present for me and step son as it's our 40th / 18th respectively.
opened the brown envelope to find that we have a 3 day pass for the GP - General Admission tickets.

Been to Silverstone lots of times but never to the GP and would appreciate any advice !
So far .. I'm trying to work out parking, how early we'd need to leave Swindon on each day - (too late for a hotel / camp site I'm guessing) and of course wheres best to go on each day ?
My thinking being we can have a wonder around on Friday / Saturday and then spend the Sunday in one location ?

cheers !

First of all, lucky sod, I'm missing it for the first time for 10 years.

Secondly, you can pay on arrival at Whittlebury hall camp site and they always have places, bit pricey but the best way to do an F1 weekend.

Have a good time.

I third Whittlebury, though I would give them a call/email and book if possible.

Not sure if they are ever booked up but it certainly gets busy.

Worth the bit extra in my opinion.

Use Friday to sit in the grandstands (I believe you can on Friday) as this may be limited/not permitted on Saturday with the tickets you have.

Take a trip into Silverstone village - good atmosphere in the pub.

Cheers

Whittlebury is where we'll be for I think the 5th year after trying a few of the others. I think Pavilion is full, but Atrium should have space, agree with those above give them a call.

I can't imagine doing Silverstone without camping now.

Enjoy!

One pub in the village and it gets rammed. Not worth the trip IMO.

You could still book camping at hamilton fields which is in the village.

No need to worry about parking there's a short cut so you can walk and get into the track behind the copse grandstand.

If your general admission you do need to get in really early on Sunday like 730-8 , so id camp get into the track whack a few seats down ( the becketts grandstand has a lot of raised banking and would be near where you enter the track) and then get breakfast.

Head into Buckingham? Our local is only a few miles from Whittlebury and does good food.
