Now, I may have said once or six times before that down at Silverstone they really are a bunch of fking money grabbing s who don't give a fking rats arse about genuine fans and increase their ticket prices by up to 20 fking % per year...... Looks like they have been caught out over timelaugh

Now with the Lewis special welcome home 44% discount (in reality we all know this is we haven't sold enough tickets because we fk people over on price) it means Friday is £37.52.

Let me say that again. £37.52

I've always said that Friday is the best value for money day*. Three hours of F1 practice and other bits also. Get there at 8:30am and the place doesn't get busy til 11am so you can walk around at ease.

  • As long as it don't rain. If it rains (and it often does at Silverstone) then you're fked! The only cars you will see are parked ones.

Always said I'd treat myself to hospitality one year . 44% off pops up yesterday and bagged super six hospitality for £240 for qualifying . Pretty sure I can eat and drink more than the ticket price , so qualifying is basically for free !

Thirty eight notes to see a bit of FP good value? What planet are you on?

38 gets you into a lot of prime attractions. Two could get into a theme park for that. A family ticket to a lot of places. It's night out money. It's good gig or a nice meal, even in london. I'm sorry, I lean quite considerably to F1 geekery and could quite happily watch a bit of FP, but £38 to see a little side show bit of F1 just underlines how detached F1 is from reality.

Booked earlier this morning, excellent value for a full days practice.

Only slight gripe is unless your buying 2+ tickets it won't allow you to purchase a car park pass.

£38 isn't bad, as long as it doesn't rain as said.

But which 'prime attractions' have you visited recently at under £20 a head? Who the hell are you watching at a gig for £38 and where are you eating, McDonald's?

As you asked, thorpe park £25/head, whipsnade or tower of london £22, all website prices, the advertised website-price of leading london price attractions so probably plenty of scope to voucher (as were talking "special" prices yeah?), drayton/blackpool both £20.

As for gigs, I'll be kind to you and forget about most of the excellent alternative bands I see for anything from £5-£30 and we'll use my last gig, the slightly more mainstream leftfield last saturday at the forum, sold-out-and-extra-dates-added must-see hyped up gig, my stub still in my other jeans pocket seems to conveniently read £36:75.

As for food, there's a couple of very nice selected restaurants (indian, turkish) near us where two can eat like kings till we're fit to pop with drinks and be presented with a bill often less than £38. There's exquisite italian and french places if we want to make an occasion and pay that per head. If you can't eat a reasonable nice meal without knocking on 3 figures there's something seriously wrong with you.

totally agree. But then again I wouldn't pay £38 for race day at the moment. And anyway race is about as exciting as fp this year

Fair enough. We obviously have different tastes. The last 'gigs' I've been to have been between £60 and £100 a head, and I'm talking over the last 5 years.

As for eating out, again, different tastes or standards I guess.

to be fair it's irrelevant how willy wavingly much you want us to know you spend on gigs and meals; a few years back & the last time we went to silverstone F1 I treated the bro-in-law for his birthday and bought us gold grandstand for the race, but how much an individual is willing to spend is not pertinent to the point I was making.

68 euros (less than £50) gets you 8 days of Le Mans action. That's value!

I'm a big Leftfield fan, but he isn't in the F1 league. He's more BTCC...so we all know that to see an F1 league performer, it's going to set us back £60. So £38 for a day at Silverstone with access to uncovered stands too, seems a decent price to me.

However, do remember that the equivalent of the Friday F1 in gig terms is like pitching up to watch the soundcheck....

It was about £98 yesterday with the discounts.

All Weekend tickets appear to be SOLD OUT NOW.

If you just want Friday/Sat/ or Sunday, there are some tickets for sale.

Sunday is £86.80 for general admission.

Er, I don't entirely disagree with your sentiment but have you not been out in Britain for the last decade or two? biggrin

I just checked and two tickets to Alton Towers this Friday would be £90, including a discount for pre-booking.

Assuming the General Admission tickets just allow you to wander around all the stands as needed on the Friday?

Despite the fact that the tickets show as £37 in the seat planner, they are now £70 when in the basket.

Never mind! Not paying £70 for practise!
