"When I got to F1 with McLaren, I was made to fit a square box. You can't show your personality, show any character. You can't do this, you can't do that. "

It's actually quite interesting, he's getting away from the shadow of McLaren, that’s for sure.

Good article. I don't follow him on social media because of the god squad stuff, but would otherwise.

The editor's letter in evo this month is also interesting.
Shows his passion for cars regardless of the bling or anything else.

McLaren 'schools' its drivers and due to the business nature of its 'partners' there is a way of speaking and a code of conduct to follow. This is how Ron wants things done and he pays huge money to drivers for their loyalty in addition to some very good perks, that no other team offers. For some it works....and it does in many cases allow drivers to have post McLaren careers.....which helps if you are unemployable after 33. Your twenty million does last long with an ex wife, a jet and some vast monthly expenses......trust me.

Good article. I wonder if Hamilton has employed a new publicist. I doubt he wrote it (all) himself. He does struggle in most interviews to be remotely interesting, even now that he is 'out of the McLaren box'. Imagine how devastated he must have felt when he broke free from Ron's totalitarian regime only to discover he actually has no personality.hehe

Slightly bizarre that he has a person accompanying him at all times to photograph his acivities. Is Hamilton an apex-narcissist? This person also does music with him (euphemism?). I wonder if this person is employed, or acts out of slavish devotion.

Interesting to be sure, but the guy just gets weirder.

His photographer is one of his best mates. Good idea in my opinion, employ a friend with similar interests, they get to keep you company and record those moments to look back on in years to come. I thought it was a pretty smart thing to do when I read about it, I imagine F1 can be a very lonely existence (in fact my neighbour is an F1 mechanic, I know the strain it puts on him mentally and as a family).

I think it's a great idea to have a made along to record what you did. Even better it's a mate to share this with.
