is F1 on its knees

I'm sat watching the highlights of the F1 and I have to say this is one of the most boring races I have ever watched.
Now I love F1 I always watch every race even if it isn't live but this year I have nil interest. It's becoming a farce.
Some of the problems with it
Roseberg can't put up a fight Hamilton wins it with ease.
The over takes are mainly done using drs
The racing is st.
There is too many st circuits in countries with little interest
The new regs and lack of testing have killed it.
You have world champions fighting for 14th.
There is that little going on we are now watching the fights for 14th.
Big names have nil sponsorship it's actually embarrassing looking now.
Half the field lapped.
There is no flat out racing
The biggest cheer is a car getting wheeled off.
It's just dire this season. I know a lot love it on here and it's a bit stupid asking in here. But I can't be the only one who just doesn't care this season so far.

Compare the races of the season, with the last couple of hours, of today's WEC at Silverstone, and there's no contest. Better, probably more relevant technology, better racing and a greater spread of manufacturers, rather than 'customers'.
I've loved F1, spectated, travelled to it, marshalled at it, even worked for F1 teams (non-tech!) but I'm bored witless, these days. And don't get me started on the cost of it, or the Teflon Dwarf!!

Real motor racing is available. Start watching WEC, ALMS, BTCC etc etc
Last year at Silverstone the fastest F1 lap was 1’37.176
Today at Silverstone in the WEC - the fastest lap was 1'40.836 in a car that has a lot more relevance for future road going cars.
The WEC doesn't need - DRS, multi compound tyres that both must be used , limited fuel- and other gimmicks.

Totally agree. Before the "if you don't like it, then don't watch it!!!" brigade shows up, I watch it because I used to love F1 and want it to be great agin. But it's just not.
Compared to the MotoGP opener which had me on my feet cheering at the TV, Melbourne sent me off to sleep.

I guarantee whatever season you pick there will be exactly the same stuff going on as there is now if you went back and watched the race. I agree with all of the above - especially the comparison with MotoGP, F1 is now a lamentable parody of what is meant to be the ultimate in 4 wheel motorsport. I can't see any way out of the current situation unless all of the road car manufacturers withdraw and let the sport return to Ferrari + the garagistes.

To anyone who thinks this was the most boring race ever, i say you havn't watched many F1 races! there have been many MANY more boring races than todays (although personly i still enjoyed it as i did when Seb was winning ni-on every race a few years back), you take the bad with the good as with anything in life.

Overtaking done with DRS. The real racers still overtake outside of the DRS zones. All this has done has put an end to the Trulli trains.
Is testing that great? Have you forgotten when Ferrari had an entire team dedicated to pounding round Fiorano every single day?

No sponsors. That's banning tobacco advertising for you. Companies just don't have the kind of disposable income these days.

to me, the difference between the Merc domination and Red Bulls run is down to engines
Red Bull never had the fastest engines, it was chassis / aero which made them faster, and the other teams had the job, and the chance to catch up
teams could bring new aero upgrades every race if they wished
it bothers me that engine upgrades are so limited, that the rules basically say that Merc teams will win and other teams are very limited in how much they can catch up

The problem is that list was compiled in two minutes whilst on the phone bored.
If I sat down at the PC and thought about it I could write a list of what's wrong with it Aslong as my arm.
There is always going to be classics and rubbish races. But it's just crippling dire at the moment. How can a team like McLaren not have sponsors. It speaks louder than I will on here about how highly it's regarded these days.

I don't understand the amazement to the way F1 races happen... This is nothing new!!!!
If you want to watch proper races then look at spec series like Indy, NASCAR, etc, MotoGP, GP2, you will see more racing there.
F1 has, for decades, been about the technology and its developments, not about pure racing. With a few expections the F1 Champioships where all won by the best car, not necessarily the best driver... So where is the racing there?
In my view what is unfortunate is not the quality of the racing which in fact has improved a little bit I. The past few years albeit in an artificial way... The unfortunate is that no longer F1 is a platform for manufacturers to bring crazy engines, everything is so strict and rules so rigid that development cost is just unsustainable.
Dominance in F1 is the norm.... Schumacher with Ferrari? Vettel in RBR? The McLaren of Prost and Senna? To name the most obvious... Yes the drivers where excellent too but the car still dictated the end result... To a point that in one season Eddie Irvine was almost in a position to win the championship when Schumacher broke his leg!!
So really nothing new... What's the moan about?
I blame aero on the F1 lack of interest.... Less close racing perhaps.... Bring back refuelling so we can see more strategy, more qualifying laps in the race, cars going as fast as possible....
Today's race was actually exciting in the mid field battles and some excellent new generation of drivers are great, Max for example...
F1 may be alienating some old fans, because they have not moved with the times, but the future is more hi tech, they should make it easier on the power unit for other manufacturers to be interested but they are too complex these days...
I don't think it is dead but I do think it has evolved.... More Playstation, less Marlboro man...for example changing braking bias for every corner, adjusting engine modes, etc, etc on the go... In Senna days it was more about the driving, gear change, the steering wheel was a steering wheel not a game controller, perhaps that made the driving more pure but make no mistake there was also dominance in that era and the car played an huge role as well!

Other than Ferrari being the second fastest car on the grid? Mercedes just have the best overall package... As did red bull in the v8 days, the v8 engines were basically the same by that point. Red Bull never had the fastest engines, it was chassis / aero which made them faster, and the other teams had the job, and the chance to catch up

wtf are you talking about. You could say the same with the moto gp and the tc maps they now use due to the sheer power of the bikes. But no one cares if it's head to head racing. Ferrari have caught up a bit, but they're still not matching Merc engines and the rules govern what they can do to their engines.More annoying is that Merc did have a bit of a head start with development
