Hi everyone, just booked the Monaco gp weekend for my 21 year old son and me, ultimate dream for both my son and I to attend, can't wait! Flying into Nice early Friday morning- arriving 9.00amish. Staying Nice 3 nights, booked grandstand P overlooking swimming pool complex for both Sat/Sun. Anybody on here who's been got any tips/advice on how to make the most of the weekend? Any info appreciated, John

Definitely walk the track after the race and pick up debris from crash locations, I got myself a big chunk of carbon fibre from Massa's Ferrari the other year....nice momento of the weekend

I went last year. The actual race was a bit dull (after nico cheated!) However the whole atmosphere was fantastic.

Well worth getting there early to see the GP2 races etc.

If you are getting the train in, be prepared... they keep piling you in until the door literally won't close!

Im sure i was in P, opposite the swimming pool/ next to the lovely Yachts. If you buy a yacht you can view the GP for free smile

This was my view:

Be careful you stick to the right areas in Nice - my brother was mugged and beaten up there a few years ago minding his own business.

I stay in Antibes on the couple of occasions I've been lucky enough to go tp the GP. Enjoy the Fiday support races - most grandstands are free from memory. We watched GP2 from tiny stand on the inside of the first corner which was great.

Also worth going down to Stars & Bars - it's right by the paddock, and although they charged €10 to get in, you get into the harbour and can brush shoulders with drivers. They have to leave the main paddock area to get to the track, get onto a boat, board the Red Bull barge etc so plenty for an avid F1 fan there.

That's great info- thanks for that!

Funnily enough I'm in Nice this week and went to Monaco today.

Walking the track is a must - in reverse is best as you've less hills that way!

With regards to staying in Nice it's like any foreign city, keep away from dodgy areas and dodgy looking characters.

The 98 bus from the airport gets your into town for €6 but the local buses eg the 10 are better value at 1/3 of the price.

The whole weekend and town is petrolhead nirvana and you will find yourself not wanting to go back to the hotel at night.
I also bet it won't be your only visit.
