Hockenheim dropped
Discussion
BBC "Hockenheim boss Georg Seiler told Bild they could not be ready in time for the July 17-19 race, adding: "We have no hope any more of having a Formula One race here.""
Thats a shame, loved to know the reason why, is it that hosting a F1 that expensive and not profitable or are they looking to host other motor racing only!

Thats a shame as I have booked and paid a deposit on a 4 day F1 trip to the German Grand Prix with my son, maybe it will be held in Nurburgring.
If not I would think the tour operator will give me a choice of another race.I have been to Spa a few times so for about the same price will probably have to choose Spain,Austria or possibly Monaco so I will give them a ring next week to see what they say.
If Bernie paid the Germans £60 million at his court case what do they expect.

Wasn't it meant to be at the Nurburgring this year originally, as it was at Hockenheim last year?I thought it was something along the lines of the new owners of the Nurburgring, including the circuit, not actually having a valid contract in place with Bernie, so he announced that Hockenheim would host it again this year, even though it left them little time to reasonably arrange hosting it. No doubt if they cant now host it miraculously a contract with the 'ring will now exist and Bernie will say it was always there to begin with.

Nice for fans who have booked flights and accommodation
What are these 'fans' you speak of?[/quoteThe trip I booked was basically all inclusive by coach,4 days,3 nights in a hotel and tickets to Saturday and Sunday. If they dont have a GP in Germany they will probably give me other options so I would be ok with that.
If I had booked flights and a hotel I would feel a bit pissed off as it was on the official FIA calender.
I have (in true Baldrick fashion ) a cunning plan.
Nurburgring has hosted at various times , "German GP" / "European GP " / "GP of Luxembourg " (if my befuddled old memory doesn't fail me )
Given the proximity of Spa Francorchamps to the German border, how about a 2nd race there labelled the "near to German GP" I would certainly buy tickets
2 helpings of Spa ? . . . . don't mind if I do

The title of this thread is misleading, Hockenheim can't be dropped because it never had a contract for 2015 to begin with, Bernie assumed they could step in to fill the gap left by the Nurburgring, but the Hockenheim owners have said there is no way they can organise a race in this short time frame.
I'm a little surprised that tour operators were selling packages to the German GP given that the official FIA calendar only specifies a date, not a location. Presumably there have never been tickets to the actual race available, so I'm not sure how they were pricing their packages. Where did people who have 'tickets' think they were going?

Something's fairly wrong with F1 when not one of the German circuits can host a race.
Wish they had never got rid of the original hockenheim as that was always one of the highlights I thought of the season.
I agree although in today's climate it'd probably be deemed unsafe to race on which is why I think it got altered in the first place. Wish they had never got rid of the original hockenheim as that was always one of the highlights I thought of the season.
