Anyone been to Sepang

The circuit is right next to Kuala Lumpur airport so easy to get to, a cab would be cheap.
There's a high speed train direct from the airport into the centre of Kuala Lumpur so you can take your pick of where to stay, at the airport if it's a short stay (the pan Pacific is literally attached to the airport) or somewhere in the city.
Never been to the F1 race there, but been through a fair few times, and just spent a night or two there, and found it easy to get round and everyone speaks English... It's not that cheap however, certainly not the rest of south East Asia.

Can recommend Pan Pacific, it's actually connect to the airport! Very plush and 5 star. Circuit is pretty much like any other newish circuit. Cabs are cheap, used to hire one to KL every night, about an hour away. Take a few cans of Lynx, the humidity is extremely high. You might see snakes crossing the circuit and the plane display is quite impressive, like jets flying down the paddock about 200ft from your head!
I went to the first Malayasian Grand Prix so a few years ago! Stayed in the Mandarin Oriental and got a taxi to and from the circuit (although if doing this suggest you book the return when being dropped off!). However I assume there are alternatives now.
Plenty of quality hotels in KL itself and no doubt plenty of "genuinue" (Spelling deliberate) F1 merchandise available on the stalls in the street market. Its worth staying in KL in my opinion. I suspect hotels very near the circuit will be booked by the teams and expensive.
However dont forget you are very near the Equator, its very hot and you'll burn quickly. So ensure you have adequate suncream and delicate parts of your body (particularly head) are covered.

I live in Malaysia and race at Sepang in The Malaysian Super Series, the best way is a Taxi, get them to drop you off and pick ypou up at the Petronas station on the main road and get the shuttle bus in the last 500 m and walk back, avoids all the jam in and out of the car park.
The best way was to get an airport taxi to the old low cost terminal, as that was diverted and went down the fast lane of the opposite carriage way and missed the jam, but they opened a new terminal this tear and that option is no longer available.
Where are your tickets? There is not a lot of action at Sepang pre and post race, and the crowd go immediatly the flag falls, do not expect European std entertainment.
I am planning to take my Lotus Carlton in the Lotus convoy, which will have police escort into the circuit, may be able to arrange a few places if you are interested PM me.
