Hi folks, looking for a bit of help. I'm thinking of taking my 18 yr old daughter to the f1 in July as she's as obsessed as me. Probably looking at a 3 day package for the pair of us somewhere near to silver stone so we can enjoy the music also.

Ideally as little hassle as possible in a decent pub/ hotel - ideally with a f1 focus.

There seem to be plenty or packages out there , can anyone point me in the right direction and most importantly where is best to watch the race itself.

I'm not loaded but I'm happy to spend a bit of cash to make it special.

Thanks

Green Man Inn just before the turn to Silverstone on the A43 is a great pub for food. As for staying I'd try the usual websites like Booking.com. If you haven't done it before then Silverstone will be packed and you may want a grandstand seat. People get really early and will take all the spots around the circuit, so you'll be far back or in the same spot all the time.

I know this always comes up in these threads but I'll say it briefly - do consider going to Spa instead. It'll be a similar price in total, you'll be at a better track (personal opinion I know, but not an unusual one), and the weekend will seem all the more special.

After visits to Monza and Spa in recent years my visit to Silverstone this year felt rather lacking.

As you were!

Thanks Pauly, is the reason the price is roughly the same, due to the tickets being that much more for Silverstone than Spa that it offsets the extra travel costs?

Great Forum ! Glad I finally found my way here!

Didn't want to sidetrack this thread if not useful info, but as I have been asked.

That was exactly my own personal experience. Brussels isn't 'so' far away, certainly driveable, but I admit will cost some more to get to than if you live close to Northampton for example. I found the costs were less when at the circuit, and indeed if I went back to Spa would not get a grandstand seat. The circuit is so large that there appears to be plenty of room in General Admission, even though we did not settle until 10am or so.

Even if costs were a little more I would recommend Spa given the excellent views of the track. Silverstone is fast but I felt miles from the track this year at Stowe and all in all it was a pricey affair. My ten pence worth.

Monza is also awesome and a £121 Parabolica grandstand ticket took the sting out of the travel cost to Milan.

Welcome to the forum! You'll soon learn my view is only one of many, most of which are well informed.

I agree with what's been said about Spa, magnificent circuit, I went in 2001 and did camping. I won't go back now though, would miss the sound too much.

Silverstone is also a great experience, especially if you get lucky with the weather, great atmosphere there, and if you happen to be a Lewis fan, he has massive support there. It is quite difficult to get accommodation really close to the track. There are the 'pods' within the venue itself, but they are really expensive. A good idea might be to try to look really close to one of the park and ride locations. If I remember correctly, there is a Travelodge right opposite the Sixfields stadium park and ride.

Whittlebury Hall seems to have a good vibe and the village pub seems to be a focal point for the F1 hacks from Haymarket too. Buy stand tickets at Luffield 1 as high up on the left hand side as you can for max viewing.
