Thoughts on 2014
Discussion
Firstly, thrilled that Lewis won the WDC
Secondly, massively imprssed with the Aussie Smiler
Third, sad if JB doesn't get a top drive for 2015, except I personnally would like to see him in WEC next year
Other thoughts, Sky have done a great job, Martin Brundle is very good, I like Rosberg less than I did atthe beginning of the season but more than I did half way through.
All in all I've enjoyed this year

Agree with everything you said, really. I know it was pretty boring that Mercedes went into every weekend looking unbeatable, but there was still some great racing further down.
And Bahrain, Canada and Hungary were just brilliant races. I was at Silverstone, and that was brilliant, too.

The engines have been brilliant this year. The racing has been brilliant, Williams resurgence, rise of Bottas and Ricciardo and a Brit won the title...pretty good year :-)
Would have been nicer if it was closer, but Merc did a good job and can't really slate them for it. The others didn't do such a good job and that's their own fault
Thoughts are with Bianchi and his family

I would be a liar if I denied that there was a little Schadenfreude over RBR performance and behaviour.

I don't think I could sum up the year better than you just did. The only things I'd add is:Secondly, massively imprssed with the Aussie Smiler

I'm glad to see Williams doing well again.
I was initially sad at the loss of 2 teams but then when the race was underway without them I didn't miss them like I expected.
Great season on track, brilliant racing up and down the grid with the title going to the driver who deserved it in the end (and not affected by the double points rule, thankfully). Mercedes really have been excellent in producing the car that they did, and letting their drivers go at it which I know many teams would not have allowed. It's also been great to see the emergence of several new stars - Ricciardo, Bottas and even Kvyat.
A few things hang over the season for me though unfortunately. Jules' accident was pretty sobering for the entire paddock and fans alike - particularly for those like me who aren't old enough to remember a time in F1 when such accidents were common.
The demise of Marussia and Caterham has been bad for the sport too - it's a sorry state that there are at least another 3 teams who could potentially fold in the coming months.
And although nowhere near as bad as a serious injury or redundancy for many, I think it's a shame that somebody like JB could be out of F1 now - though that's not certain yet so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
ETA - I also missed this:

I blame the vodka on not adding that to my original post, Wiliams have been great this year
Fully agree, great to see them in resurgent form. Most of the good stuff has already been mentioned, a great season which will have hopefully shut up a load of the changeophobes and critics of the new regs.
Shame that the engine manufacturers broke their promises regarding customer teams engine costs, I feel the blame lays partially with them for the teams which folded and that they should be held accountable so that it doesn't continue into next year.
Hope double points is dead and buried so that we can forget about it.
Looking forward to next year, hopefully with renewed competition from the teams which brought comparaively crap cars this season (Lotus, Sauber, Force India, Mclaren, Red Bull to an extent...)
Good tyres by Pirelli.
Mercedes approach to driver management has been hugely refreshing after years of Red Bull 'maintain the gap', 'multi 21' bks.

Massively impressed with the engines and reliability myself.
Enjoyed so many of the races, exciting battles all up the field usually.
The best driver won.
Oh, and having Toto and Niki firstly talking sense and pretty much being as honest as possible when speaking to the press, AND allowing their drivers to scrap tooth and nail on the track, was a very refreshing thing.

Neither he nor Rosberg were squeaky clean in their on track behavior
Hamilton is a worthy champion & Rosberg was a surprisingly good opponent(I thought Hamilton would dominate Rosberg this season) Alonso was his usual great self & the Aussie surprised everyone.

Surely the engines aren't 'not good', you just don't like the sound?
Yep, don't like the st sound, don't like the fact that they have putpp at least 2 teams out of business (and maybe more next year) don't like the fact that drivers can very rarely push hard. Mark Webber commented on it recently and Vettel even considered quitting because of them.chonok said:

It's still due to the tyres why drivers can't push. There will always be a limiting factor but I don't like how fragile the tyres are. A great season, I love the new engines, and fuel management which hasn't been the problem many said it would. The cost will come down as the technology becomes more available and hopefully that will attract more teams to upset the balance of the big 4. The same people the moan about the hybrid systems and engines would have probably moaned when f1 engines went to electronic fuel injection from carbs!
Congrats to Lewis, and highly impressed with way nico carried himself during and after the race. Great results for Riciardo and bottas, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed button has a seat next year.
