I've got a good feeling about this. I hope the car is good enough for podiums next year.
Me too. The car has been a let down this year, but they know the problem is something inherent in the floor of the car that they can't fix with updates. With Merc engines and a new car, he should hopefully be right up there .Ditto - another crumb of good news for Lotus. The bad news is that even if the 2015 car is a lot better, they will be handicapped in the Constructors' Championship (and therefore lower down in terms of revenue share) until Maldonado stops trying to fuse his car together with the scenery/other cars.
The other crumb of comfort is that Lotus has massively reduced its losses, so its financial state is now just "bad" as opposed to "woeful".
Difficult choice - do you take the petrodollars that come with upfront with Maldonado, or do you risk a cashflow blip to take a driver who will regularly finish in the points and take the extra prize money at the end of the year and be a team that is more attractive to sponsors...? Unfortunately they made their choice for 2015 early.

Dare I say it? Maldonado's driving isn't so offensive or inconsistent these days. He brings a lot of cash. I hate him, I think he's a nasty piece of work- but perhaps not such a bad choice?Europa1 said:

Reading the money thread that contains the graphic on how the $$ is distributed, and looking at how long crashtors been confirmed but only now is grosjean, can't help but think that however it could be ideally worked out, if you had £15-20M between each of the constructor places at least fro the lower placed teams, it'd make it real hard to chose a $$$man over a better driver if it looked like something that could cost them a placing or two.The other crumb of comfort is that Lotus has massively reduced its losses, so its financial state is now just "bad" as opposed to "woeful".

Great news BTW gro deserves a drive, hopefully lotus haven't haemorrhaged too much talent to make a good showing next year. would be funny if they beat mclaren
