I didn't see that coming, I thought van der Garde would have been most likely to land the second seat.

You might as well have expected me to get the seat should I bring enough sponsorship

For the avoidance of doubt, that's Brazil's Felipe Nasr driving for Sauber - not Brazil's Felipe Massa who drives for Williams.

Definitely not going to make listening to commentary confusing at all.

So the bloke who got soundly beaten to the GP2 title by Jolyon Palmer gets a drive next year whilst the champion looks increasingly likely not to.

I was thinking that. Given the commentators can't cope with saying Ricciardo properly...this should be good for a laugh. I can only hope at some point they end up in the same team.

Reminds me of the rosbifs Brundle and Blundell at Ligier in the 90s. Had to feel sorry for Murray Walker at times.

next it will be Warren Buffett and Richard Branson getting drives. F1 is not a talent based sport (actually it's not a sport anymore)

Same as it ever was.

I'm pleased to see two fresh kids come in, particularly if it means the eternal F1 barnacle and notorious dolphin molester Sutil vacates the sport.

Must admit, when I heard the news on the radio this morning, I thought they were referring to Massa and then imagined Jenson side stepping into the vacant Williams. Shame.

exactly the same here as i arrived at work. first thing i checked was this forum and saw it was actually Nasr (who?). easy mistake to make i suppose

WRT Ricciardo, ricardo. He said when he first arrived in F1 that it always had been pronounced as ricardo when growing up in Oz.

Grandprix.com: Haas could keep Sutil's F1 dream alive

Pure conjecture of course - but there might be life in the ol' night club fighter yet!

A friend of a friends friend, told me that McLaren got fed up of waiting for Alonso and have signed Sutil as Button was signed for Audi, to win Le Mans 2015, and then enter F1 2016 to win the F1 tittle.

JB will also race for Ducatti in the 2015 WSB/MotoGP.

Alonso has taken over the 888 BTCC team as their contract with MG has expired and is entering a stock Dancia Duster.

Nasr is definitely more highly ranked than Palmer - results don't tell the full story especially in GP2 !!
Of course it helps that Nasr and a big piggy bank

Autosport said:
Adrian Sutil has demanded talks with his Sauber Formula 1 team bosses following their announcement that he will be replaced for 2015.

The German was believed to have a contract in place for next year, but his Sauber team caused a surprise on Wednesday when it revealed that Felipe Nasr will be Marcus Ericsson's team-mate.

Sutil has expressed some surprise at the situation, and made it clear in Brazil on Thursday that discussions were needed with his team to clear up matters.

"There are certain things to talk about definitely," he said.

"Yes, they confirmed two drivers, but it doesn't mean the drivers are going to drive, and it doesn't mean the team is going to drive.

"So there is no real change from last weekend to this weekend.

"It is just an announcement, from my side I need to do some talking to sort out the things."

With Sauber opting to not retain Sutil for next year, he admitted that he faced an uncertain future in F1 with few other drives available.

"I don't know. I will see what is possible, what I want," he said.

"There are quite a few things to sort out and I cannot really say more at the moment."

When asked if he was frustrated with the situation, Sutil said: "I am not frustrated, but it is just how it is.

"I am in F1 since many years and it is a little bit of a different business. That is all I can say right now, but I look forward to the race. I race, and that is it."
