No real surprise however it's a great shame that another team has bitten the dust.
Makes it even sadder when you think of poor Jules so far away from home.
Two teams gone, neither of which will probably appear again so who is next to go? Sauber?
Sad times.
I'm sure if Sauber sells up or goes to the wall then Audi may step in if rumours are true. Makes it even sadder when you think of poor Jules so far away from home.

With a rumoured $50M due from their 9th place in the constructors championship if they get the cars to Abu Dhabi, Marussia are much more likely to attract new investment than the financial black-hole that is Caterham
I think it's a lot less than that - 15 million ? thegreenhell said:

If Marussia F1 survive to 2015, how much money would they get from the 2 championship points scored by Bianchi this year?
If the analysis and figures in this article are correct then it will be in the region of $50M. They will finish top 10 two years running to qualify for the column 1 payment, plus the prize money for ninth or tenth in the WCC this year.http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1955397-formula...

With firstly Caterham & now Marussia out of the next couple of GP's, Q1 is going to be interesting with just 1 car going out. Unless Bernie changes the rules so there is only Q2 & Q3 to contend with
Well, given Vettel said he's not doing qualifying as he needs an engine change anyway, there's no point to Q3 at all at the next GP?!PhillipM said:

That would certainly make it more interesting, we would be virtually guaranteed to see a big name go out in the first session.

Is that how the rules work for Q1?

Section 33.1 of the Sporting Regulations says 'slowest 8 out in Q1, next 8 out of Q2' - assuming a 26 car field. It also describes 24 and 22 car fields being 7/7 or 6/6 respectively. Following that formula Q1 should eliminate the first 4 cars of an eighteen car field and Q2 the same.I thought it was just the slowest x number of cars removed, regardless? I think this is just bad news and a sign of things to come really. We could easily see Sauber and Lotus go the same way given their money troubles as well. I think it would be a real shame if we lose some of the smaller teams because they do add something to the show.
The problem is the big teams can't see beyond their own interests and don't seem to genuinely care about cutting costs or distributing the money more evenly... although Bernie has a big role in that too I guess.

This sounds like BS to me, can't find anything meaningful about them on the net to suggest they have the means to get involved in F1, or even the nous to front a purchase for someone else.Gassing Station | Formula 1 | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
