When F1 drivers are embarrassed by winning
Discussion
We know F1 drivers are conditioned to think that “winning is winning”, but sometimes drivers win races or achieve results they aren’t especially proud of.
Think Michael Schumacher’s 2002 Austrian GP win, where Barrichello was ordered to let Schumacher through into the lead, finally doing so in the dying seconds of the race. Barrichello had out-raced Schumacher all weekend but Ferrari wanted Michael to win so that was that. The crowd's reaction was predictable and Schumacher was so embarrassed by the whole affair that on the podium he initially wouldn’t stand on the top step.
Anyone think of any other examples when F1 drivers have scored results, wins or otherwise, that they probably felt bad about? Or times when drivers maybe should have felt bad about winning but didn't?

Austria 2002 was such a bad call by Ferrari - if I recall, points/championship-wise they had no need to do it.
Yep it was only the 6th race of the season if I remember, and Schumi was already a million miles ahead. He was always going to win the 2002 title and 100% didn't need to be spoon-fed points. Was just a massive kick in the face to Barrichello. I don't think schumacher was capable of being embarrassed of anything he did..
I see the same nasty little streak in rosberg, not for the couple of unsporting incidents we've seem in themselves but his utter lack repentance/humility when the heats off, massive show of celebrating after Q at monanco etc.
vettel & multi 21 I don't see it as much, because once out the car he did at least make a show of reflecting..

If Nikki Rosberg picks up the World Championship purely because of the "Double Points" rule I hope that he and everyone involved in F1 (except for Hamilton) is suitably embarrassed.
why is it the drivers fault that they have introduced such a stupid rule? It is the same rule for everyone, so I do hope he takes it by the smallest of margins.

US GP 2005, embarrassing for everyone involved!
Everyone except Tiago Monteiro. http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0dZlG6VyyNAHeikki Kovaleinen/2008 Hungarian GP - IIRC not too happy that he was gifted the win due to Massa's DNF who dominated the race.
Lewis Hamilton/2010 Turkish GP - not his jovial self and neither did he grin like a 10 year old after Button broke/re-interpreted team orders to save fuel ie. hold position/slow/don't race after Vettel and Webber collided.

Drivers have to work within the rules they are given, However, how you win something can be just as important as winning it.It is the same rule for everyone, so I do hope he takes it by the smallest of margins.

Patrese Monaco '82? Not sure he would have been embarrassed though, just grateful!
I think 2002 Austria is the only one I can think of where the winning driver should have felt embarrassed. The fact he didnt even have the balls to stand on the podium made it even more of a farce. But then again its also slightly Barrichellos fault for stopping practically on the line.
